As a small business, we're always looking for ways to provide the safest, most reliable service possible for both your pets and our team.

That's why we've added an Inclement Weather Policy to our Service Agreement.

One thing many people don't realize is that nearly 20% of our appointments are already completed inside our clients' homes.

Misty's Mobile Grooming is fully licensed, insured, and bonded, and our grooming technicians are professionally trained to safely and efficiently set up and groom indoors when needed.

When will indoor access be required?

If rain is occurring or forecasted during your appointment, or if the actual temperature or heat index ("feels like" temperature) reaches 95°F or higher, we will require access to an indoor space to complete your pet's grooming appointment.

This can include:�🐾 A bathroom�🐾 A laundry room�🐾 Another suitable indoor area
This policy is in place for two very important reasons:�

• The safety and comfort of your pets, who should not be exposed to extreme heat or severe weather during the grooming process.�

• The safety of our team, who work outdoors throughout the day and face those same weather conditions.
It also helps us avoid unnecessary cancellations and rescheduling.

As a small business, weather-related cancellations can quickly affect dozens of appointments, and many of our clients are already booked 2–3 weeks in advance. By working indoors when needed, we can stay on schedule and continue providing dependable service to everyone.

To thank clients who are able to accommodate a last-minute weather-related move indoors, we'll apply a 20% discountto that appointment.

(This discount applies only when indoor access is requested because of unexpected weather and is not applicable to appointments that are routinely performed indoors.)

If indoor access is declined during weather conditions that require it, the appointment will be canceled and a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the quoted service will apply. That fee will include priority booking for your pet's rescheduled appointment.

We understand that inviting someone into your home is a personal decision, and we completely respect that.

Our goal isn't to inconvenience anyone by any means. It is or goal to continue providing safe, professional, and dependable service while protecting your pets, our team, and our schedule.

With summer now upon us, we are receiving a lot of shave down request. We want to take this time to share some educational material that explains:

🐾 Why We Usually Don’t Recommend Shaving Double-Coated Dogs 🐾

One of the most common questions we get at Misty’s Mobile Grooming is, “Will shaving my dog help keep them cooler in the summer?”

It may seem like it would, but for most double-coated breeds, shaving can actually create more problems than it solves.

Double-coated dogs have two layers of fur. A very soft and fine undercoat and a protective outer coat. These layers of the coat help regulate body temperature, protect their skin from the suns harmful rays and provide insulation from both the heat and the cold.

Here is a list of our most commonly seen double coated pets:

• Golden Retrievers
• Labrador Retrievers
• German Shepherds
• Siberian Huskies
• Alaskan Malamutes
• Australian Shepherds
• Border Collies
• Shelties
• Pomeranians
• Chow Chows
• Great Pyrenees
• Bernese Mountain Dogs
• Newfoundlands
• Corgis
• Akitas
• Shiba Inus

When double-coats are shaved, there’s a chance the hair won’t grow back the same. It can come back patchy, thin, or a totally different texture all together.

In some cases, the coat may never fully return to its original condition.
Shaving can also leave the skin more exposed to sunburn and reduce the coat’s natural ability to help regulate temperature.

Instead of shaving your double coated pet we highly recommend trying the following:

✅ Regular deshedding treatments

✅ Routine brushing to remove loose undercoat

✅ Bathing and blow-outs to help the coat breathe and stay healthy

✅ Plenty of fresh water and shade during hot weather

✅ Limiting outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day

We do understand not every dog is the same.
Certain medical conditions or skin issues may require a different approach, so it’s always a good idea to discuss any concerns with your veterinarian first, so you and your groomer can make the best decision for your pet!
