As you celebrate with family and friends, don’t forget to keep your four-legged family members safe, too!
🐾 Keep pets well hydrated and ensure they always have access to fresh water and shade.
🐾 Limit walks on hot pavement. If it’s too hot for the back of your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
🐾 Brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds—such as Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boston Terriers—are especially prone to overheating and should enjoy today’s festivities indoors whenever possible.
🐾 If your dog has prescribed noise-aversion or anti-anxiety medication, give it 1–2 hours before fireworks begin (or as directed by your veterinarian).
🐾 Create a quiet, comfortable space indoors where pets can retreat during fireworks. Turn on a TV or fan for background noise, and make sure collars and ID tags are secure.
🚫 Keep pets away from fireworks, sparklers, alcohol, chocolate, grapes/raisins, onions, and fatty barbecue foods.
