🥇 We’re breaking records -and unfortunately it’s not the good kind… We’ve seen a record number of toxic ingestions lately, including medication’s, household products, raisins, and other things our patient’s were never meant to eat. 
That's right, raisins. 🤯
Raisin toxicity is a major portion of toxic ingestion cases referred to the ASPCA pet poison control hotline, (888) 426-4435, a resource we utilize to create a treatment plan for when our pets ingest things they are not supposed to.
Whenever your pet ingests something not meant for them (or even if it is meant for them, but they've eaten too much, or they seem to be choking, or something just does not seem right) It is always important to contact a professional as soon as you become concerned.
Many of our doctors instruct owners to call the ASPCA poison control because a consult from their professionals can help you avoid additional fees, or confirm your pet does need to be treated by an emergency clinic!
You may wonder why we would recommend calling the poison control line if you need to be seen by a veterinarian - the reality is our doctors utilize the ASPCA poison control staff as a resource when creating treatment plans. We refer directly to patient's case number, and frequently call back the ASPCA once a doctor has examined pets to determine a diagnostic plan. There's a reason they are the number 1 expert's in the field of toxicology for pets, and we are so grateful this resource exists for our patients and our veterinary staff!
