I have started and stopped this post so many times over the last week. But it’s time to share it.
Lucky crossed the rainbow bridge with his mom and dad by his side at almost 17 years old.
Some dogs become part of what makes up Baxter’s, and Lucky was one of those dogs. We had the privilege of loving and caring for him for over four years while his mom and dad traveled. Every time we saw his name on the schedule, we all got excited. He was just a gentleman. He never caused any trouble and had the sweetest soul.
In his younger years, he would find a special friend to play with, and the whole room would stop to watch him. Those moments were so special. As he got older, he lost his hearing, but those beautiful eyes and his sweet spirit would still melt us.
This one hurts. They all do. No matter how many dogs we have the privilege of loving, saying goodbye never gets easier.
Don and I are so thankful we had the chance to love Lucky, to be part of his life, and to get to know his wonderful parents. Thank you for trusting us with such a special part of your family for all those years.
Please don’t be strangers. We hope you’ll come visit us. And Lucky, sweet boy, we hope you’ll come visit us, too. You’ll always be part of our Baxter’s family. ❤️

Food for us and food for the dogs! It doesn’t get any better than that! Thank you so much to Ceiligh’s mom for the dog food and treat donations for the Crisis Assistance Ministry! We’ve got her in the drawing tomorrow for a free daycare day!
Thank you so much to Zeus, Thor and Bella’s family for treating our staff to lunch today! It was delicious and so appreciated! We also want to thank Alley and Fern’s mom for the doughnuts yesterday and to Bernsie’s family for the cake! You all spoil us so much!
