Happy Tuesday everyone! We hope everyone had a fabulous Labor Day Weekend. The end of summer seems to have also triggered kennel cough in our fur babies.

We have gotten a couple reports of dogs coughing over the last week. While we haven’t heard anyone cough, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t reached our shop and spread. The incubation period can be a week, and knowing a couple of our customers dogs have started coughing, tells me it’s made its way to Diamond in the Ruff.

That being said, I would like to ease any anxious minds by stating that Kennel Cough is akin to the common cold with us. Even with the bordatella vaccine, dogs can still get it. Some dogs even get it and show NO symptoms because their immune system fights it off quickly. Some dogs recover on their own with mild symptoms, and some dogs require antibiotics to help their body along. It is no reason to panic. Once the virus has made its rounds, all will be right again.

In terms of upcoming appointments, if anyone has appointments in the upcoming weeks and would like to reschedule, please text the salon, and Mike will be making calls to accommodate. Our daycare customers, as well as customers with upcoming appointments (because not everyone has Facebook) will be informed of what’s going on and given the option to reschedule. There is no pressure to push your appointment, but we want everyone to be comfortable so we will accommodate whoever wants to.

We pride ourselves on being transparent and informative, and we are not above understanding the downsides of providing a cage free pet space. Our environment is just like a human kindergarten, and children catch things and pass them along all the time - just like these fur kids. My own dogs come to work as well so we’re in this with you. We are here to talk to and will be around through this stinky time of potential coughing and runny noses 🐾

Maintenance is key for ensuring that the fluffy coat you desire stays in its lane and possible to achieve!

Grooming doesn’t always have to mean a full haircut for your dog, staying on a routine and frequent schedule, allows for those longer puffier coats to be accomplished.

Who needs a pillow?

So many people overlook the maintenance and effort required to properly maintain a thick undercoated breed. Some owners will even attempt to bathe and dry their own dog, but without the proper technique and tools at their disposal, it can make maintenance more difficult.

Pressure is key, so having the appropriate hoses and dryers helps ensure that all of that dead coat makes its way out, and believe us when we say, this boy dropped a TON!

We tried to make a slight change to our phones, and now we’re in limbo! We’ve been trying to work through it so the best way to reach us right now is a good old fashioned phone call. We should be back by tomorrow, but who knows!

We are now opening our books as of yesterday to all dogs under 40lbs !

We have always strived to make sure we never sacrifice quality for volume, and we have been working hard behind the scenes to be able to confidently say that we are ready to accept new clients, both furry and human to our family!

We are still revamping operations and making extremely selective decisions to add members to our team.

Our books are now open for anyone referred by a current customer 🙂 you may call and leave a voicemail, shoot us a text (908.233.4602), or go on our website and submit an app - and give us a little information about your pup, (ie age, breed, size, last time groomed, and be sure to let us know who referred you!) and we will get back to you by the end of the day, or next day at the latest! We look forward to welcoming in new Diamond in the Ruff family members!
