September is National Pet Insurance Month! 🐾💙 At Twin Tails Veterinary Hospital, these are some of the most common questions we receive when it comes to pet insurance, and we’re always happy to help make the process easier for pet parents.

1. Do you take pet insurance? Yes, we work with all pet insurance companies and provide the medical records they need. Just let us know your provider!

2. Can you recommend a specific insurance company? While we can’t recommend one over another, we’re happy to share what we’ve seen work well for other clients.

3. How do I file a claim? Most insurance companies have an app or online portal. After your visit, you’ll submit your claim, and we’ll send any required medical records.

4. Do I pay up front? Yes, payment is made at the time of your visit, and your insurance provider reimburses you based on your policy.

5. What information do you send to the insurance company? We provide medical records and invoices as requested to help ensure your claim is processed quickly and smoothly.

We always recommend pet insurance because it gives families peace of mind and helps make unexpected illnesses or injuries more manageable, so you can focus on your pet’s care, not the cost. 💙

Hot days can turn dangerous fast for our pets, heatstroke is a real risk, especially in the peak of summer. ☀️🐾 At Twin Tails Veterinary Hospital, we want to help you keep your pets safe and cool all August long:

💧 Never leave your pet in a parked car
Temperatures can rise to deadly levels within minutes, even on cloudy days.

🌳 Limit outdoor time
Avoid leaving pets unsupervised outside in the heat. Always provide fresh water, shade, and a cool place to rest.

🐕 Time your walks wisely
Stick to early mornings (or late evenings) before the pavement and air temps become too hot.

⚠️ Know if your pet is at higher risk
Some pets are more prone to heatstroke, including:
1. Brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boxers, they have a harder time cooling themselves due to their shortened airways
2. Overweight pets
3. Senior pets or very young animals
4. Pets with thick coats or underlying health conditions

These pets can overheat more quickly because they can’t regulate their body temperature as efficiently.
Heatstroke can happen faster than you think, but with a little planning, it’s completely preventable. 💙

Keeping your pets up to date on vaccinations is one of the best ways to protect their health and the health of your family! Here are three important reasons to vaccinate your furry friends:

Today marks ONE YEAR since Twin Tails Veterinary Hospital opened our doors, and what a year it has been! From the very beginning, our goal has been simple: to provide compassionate, high-quality care for your pets while treating every client like family.

Over the past year, we’ve shared countless moments of joy, from first puppy & kitten visits to routine checkups, dental cleanings, and everything in between. Each wagging tail, pur, and happy family we’ve met has made this journey truly meaningful.
