Just a quick heads-up, Garland! The Garland Animal Shelter & Adoption Center will be CLOSED Monday, September 7, 2026, in observance of Labor Day.

While our shelter will be closed to the public, our team will still be taking limited calls and responding to emergencies only during the holiday.

Regular shelter business hours will resume Tuesday, September 8 at 11 AM.

Okay, with a name like Goofy, you already know this boy was going to bring some personality to the party! 😂❤️

Goofy (A294071) is a 3-year-old Pit Bull weighing 71 pounds of handsome. He’s got a nice medium energy level, knows sit, takes treats gently, and will even offer up a sit when snacks are involved. Smart AND food motivated? We love to see it. 😂🙌

And if you really want to speak his language...SQUEAK! Give this baby boy a squeaky toy and you might just become his favorite person! He also enjoys plenty of pets and attention once the fun gets going 🐶❤️

The only thing Goofy (A294071) about adopting him TODAY is that it costs you ZERO DOLLARS! 🤪🎉 His adoption is completely FREE, and his new family will also receive FREE post-adoption training support from Lead With Love Dog Training, LLC.!

Our FREE Adoption Weekend continues TODAY, and Chim-Chim is stepping up to remind everyone that there’s still time to find your new best friend! ❤️

Chim-Chim (A291633) is a 5-year-old Pit Bull weighing 43 pounds with a fun, playful personality. She knows sit, takes treats gently, enjoys plenty of attention, and when it comes to toys, she isn’t picky. Balls, plushies, squeakers...bring them on! 😂🎾

She’s got a nice medium to high energy level and would love a family ready to include her in the fun. Chim-Chim came to us as a stray on May 20th, and we’d LOVE for today to be the day she finally heads out those doors with a family of her own. 🏡❤️

Best part? Chim-Chim (A291633) is completely FREE to adopt TODAY! Her new family will also receive FREE post-adoption training support from Lead With Love Dog Training, LLC., giving them some extra tools and support as everyone settles in together!

🐱❤️ TOM IS READY FOR HIS TURN! ❤️🐱

Our FREE Adoption Weekend continues TODAY, and we couldn’t let the dogs have all the attention! Meet Tom, one of the handsome kitties hoping Day 2 ends with a ride HOME. 🏡🐾

Tom (A295026) is a 7-month-old Domestic Shorthair, so he’s still just a young guy with plenty of growing, playing, exploring, and cat shenanigans ahead of him 😂❤️ At this age, he’s ready to leave shelter life behind and start figuring out what it’s like to have a home and family of his own!

And TODAY is a pretty great day to make that happen because Tom’s adoption fee is completely WAIVED! Even better, households adopting a cat during our September event will receive a FREE cat scratch board to help their new kitty settle in 🐱🙌

We’re excited to welcome Spay Neuter Network to the Garland Animal Shelter & Adoption Center IN TWO WEEKS for a Low-Cost Pet Vaccine Clinic! 🐶🐱❤️

Keeping your pets healthy can get expensive, so we love being able to connect our community with organizations offering affordable preventative care. Spay Neuter Network will have low-cost vaccines for dogs and cats, along with flea and heartworm prevention and additional services at low-cost prices!

If your house could use a little more fun, R. Jr. is ready to volunteer for the job! 😂🐾

R. Jr. (A290746) is just 1 year old and 43 pounds, with a playful personality and plenty of love to give. R. Jr. has a medium to high energy level, knows sit, takes treats gently, loves balls and squeaky toys, and is always happy to soak up some attention. He’s even joined us for an offsite adoption event and did great meeting people outside the shelter!

R. Jr. came to us as a stray on April 24th, and we think this weekend sounds like a pretty good time for him to trade shelter life for FAMILY life ❤️🏡

R. Jr. (A290746) is completely FREE to adopt September 5th & 6th! His adoption also includes FREE post-adoption training support from Lead With Love Dog Training, LLC. giving his new family some extra support as this playful youngster settles in at home.

If handsome Huskies are your weakness, we apologize in advance. 😂 Meet Valto, a 5-year-old Husky mix weighing 58 pounds who would LOVE to be somebody’s weekend plans!

Valto (A290909) has a nice medium energy level, knows sit, takes treats gently, enjoys his pets, and is always down for a ball or squeaky toy. He’s also been out with us for an offsite adoption event and did great! Even better, this handsome boy completed his heartworm treatment in July, so he’s got that checked off his list too ❤️🙌

Now we just need to check off the BIG one...HOME! 🏡

And THIS WEEKEND is the perfect time to do it! Valto (A290909) is completely FREE to adopt September 5th & 6th, and his new family will also receive FREE post adoption training support from Lead With Love Dog Training, LLC.!!

And speaking of best friends, meet Stormy (A294051)! Don’t let the name fool you because there’s not much stormy about this girl 😂 She’s a 6-year-old Husky mix, 57 pounds, low energy, easy on leash, gentle with treats, knows sit, and LOVES being spoiled with pets and belly rubs!! Our team described her as super super super super sweet, and we stand by every single super 🥹❤️

Best part? Stormy (A294051) is completely FREE to adopt TODAY and TOMORROW, September 5th & 6th! And thanks to our partners at Lead With Love Dog Training, LLC. her new family will also receive FREE post-adoption training support to help everyone start their new life together on the right paw!!

😂🐾 Reno can’t contain himself! 🐾😂

We asked Reno (A291927) if he was ready for our FREE Adoption Weekend, and the answer was pretty obvious 😂 This boy has ENERGY, and while Reno was a little worried that his enthusiasm might be too much for his future family, we reminded him that we’ve got something special lined up for our September dog adopters!

Thanks to our partners at Lead With Love Dog Training, LLC., every dog adopted during our September FREE Adoption Weekends will receive FREE post-adoption training support! It’s a great way for dogs like Reno (A291927) and their new families to get some extra guidance as they settle into life together! Reno felt MUCH better after hearing that...although it did absolutely nothing to slow him down 😂🐾

And our cats are getting spoiled too! Cat adoptions are FREE, and every household adopting a cat will also receive a FREE cat scratch board! 🐱❤️
