While our horses get most of the attention at our stables, our heifers, Gertie (Brama) and Elsie (Hereford) are a very loved and cherished part of our barn family. Both girls love their scratches, pets, toys and treats!

We had a fabulous time working with these awesome kids and sweet horses at our last summer camp of the year. Lots of learning about horses both in and out of the saddle, time to be creative at art class each day and the rewarding cool down swim after a hot Texas morning. We owe a BIG thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success!

Our Hunter/Jumper instructor, Kate Middleton-Ferrell, took two of our riding students, Stephanie Nguyen and Bear Burns, to our first UDJC horse show this weekend. Kate rode the handsome Shire/Standardbred, Sancho and Stephanie and Bear rode the dapper Dennis the Menace. They won multiple gold, silver and bronze ribbons in their classes. I’m so proud of them and thankful to Kate for introducing Rocking J to our first show as a barn.

✨ Grooming day for Maya! ✨

Natalie spent the day giving Maya a fresh shave and some extra TLC 🐴🧼 From start to finish, Maya was soaking up the attention and looking more comfortable already in the warmer weather.

We love seeing the care and patience our team puts into every horse that comes through the barn 💚 Great job, Natalie!

We had a blast hosting our first summer day camp last week! The kids were so creative and did an awesome job working on their costumes all week. The horses seemed to enjoy the costume party on the final day. Thank you to the wonderful instructors, volunteers and care staff for ensuring everything went smoothly!Rocking J Stables

Even with the rainy days, when you’re arena looks like a swamp; there is still so much you can learn educationally that does not involve riding a horse. Look at our students today who showed up. They did a unmounted lesson that included a refresher on all major parts of the horse learned about muscular skeletal regions, major tendons, and how to properly put on jumping boots and pollo wraps!!!
