☀️🐾 Too Hot to Trot? Keep Your Pets Cool This Summer! 🐾☀️
Summer is here and while you may be soaking up the sun, your pets could be feeling the heat - literally. Unlike us, they can’t sweat it out or ask for a cold drink, so it’s up to us to keep them safe.
🚫 Hot Cars = Hazard Zones
Leaving your pet in a parked car, even for “just a minute,” can be deadly. Temperatures can soar to over 100°F in minutes - even with the windows cracked. If your errand can't include your pet, do them a favor: let them stay home in the A/C.
🔥 Signs of Heat Stroke in Pets: See picture below for signs to watch for!
If you notice any of these signs, treat it as a medical emergency and contact your nearest urgent care veterinarian immediately.
💡 Tips to Keep Them Cool:
✅ Make sure fresh, clean water is always available
✅ Avoid midday walks (early morning or evening is best)
✅ Provide shady rest spots
✅ Never leave pets outside for long during heatwaves

🌞🐾 Protect Your Pup’s Paws during hot Summer Days 🐾🌞
Summer sunshine is fabulous, but those sizzling sidewalks and scorching asphalt can cause serious burns to your dog’s sensitive paw pads! If it's too hot for your bare feet, it’s definitely too hot for theirs. 🔥👣
🚫 Avoid walking your dog during the hottest parts of the day.
Instead, choose cooler times like:
🕕 Early morning (before 10am)
🌅 Late evening (after 6pm)
🐕💡Keep your pup active and happy with these safe alternatives:
* Indoor play with toys or puzzle feeders
* Short walks on grassy or shaded areas
* Fun training sessions at home
* Swimming (if they love water!)
🚨 If your dog does burn their paws:
✔️ Get them off the hot surface ASAP
✔️ Gently rinse their paws with cool (not cold) water
✔️ Apply a pet-safe antiseptic or paw balm
✔️ Call us right away - burns can get infected or lead to limping and pain

We are all so lucky to know you! Dr. Price is one of the hardest working humans we know, she puts her all into Close To Home. She treats her patients as if they were her own pets, she leads the team with positivity and light each day. Her passion for what she does shines through her team - thank you Dr. Price for being the best veterinarian and practice owner we could ask for! 🩺🐾🐱🐶

She is much more than a veterinarian, Dr. Erin Price is a wonderful mother, wife, sister, friend, daughter, niece, leader and so much more! She wears so many hats and succeeds to the highest level in all that she does. Let’s all take a moment to wish her the happiest birthday! 🎉

It has become a tradition at Close To Home to throw a little birthday party for the team members on the van and we love sharing this part of our team with you all.
