Dr. Trammell, Dr. McKim, Dr. Foster, Dr. Crider, Dr. Fanning, Dr. O’Mary and the staff at Mercy would like to thank you for choosing us to provide veterinary care for your pet. We are a full service animal hospital that has provided quality care to the Gardendale and surrounding communities since our opening in 2007. Our services include routine wellness check-ups and vaccines, surgery, internal medicine, dentistry, radiology, laser therapy, boarding, grooming, and daycare programs. At Mercy, we hope to build a relationship with you and your special furry loved ones. We are located in Gardendale, AL and are proud to serve the Jefferson, Blount, St. Your pet's health and well being is extremely important to us and we will take every necessary step to give your pet the best possible care.

In case you didn’t catch us on WBRC 6 News news at noon, here’s your reminder to come out to the Barking at the Moon Festival! 🐕 🌖

📆This Sunday at the Fultondale Dog Park from 1-5 pm!

There will be tons of FREE fun for the entire family! Child and dog costume contests, dog centered vendors galore, agility exhibitions and more!

We will be there placing microchips and offering pet safe temporary tattoos for your pups!

This amazing crew has been with us between 2 and almost 4 years. From the front to the back of the clinic, they keep your babies cared for with love and compassion.

⭐️Ashton, Resort Attendant, 3 years (so attentive to our boarders and Bark ‘n Stretch babies 🐶)
⭐️Pearl, Resort Attendant, 2 years (she is a quiet and calm presence for your boarding babies 🧘‍♀️)
⭐️Leah, Customer Service, 3 1/2 years (if you ask for pictures of your pets while they’re here, she’s the one who makes it happen! 📸)
⭐️Chris, Customer Service, just shy of 3 years (he started in our resort, recently began cross training in customer service, with goals of training as an assistant 🤩)
⭐️Baylee, Veterinary Assistant, 3 years (she has cows at home - so fun!🐮)
⭐️Dr. Kent, Veterinarian, 2 years (she is rocking the newborn baby mom/veterinarian life 🍼)

We are so thankful for this group of people and hope we can keep adding those years for many more to come.

Another fantastic crew to highlight for you today! These fabulous people have been with us between 4 and 6 years. They all work so hard to make a difference in everything they do.

⭐️LJ - Resort Attendant, 4 years (if there were a happiest person award, she would be it! Thank you for bringing the positivity!)
⭐️Gage - Veterinary Assistant, 5 1/2 years (he helps us lift all the heavy things, puts up with an awful lot of nonsense from his coworkers, mostly with a smile 😜 and is always calm and kind with clients)
⭐️Dr. O’Mary - Veterinarian, 5 years (she is so kind to all of our team and our clients and cares immensely about giving your babies a positive outcome)
⭐️Caroline - Lead Customer Service, 4 1/2 years (she is the trainer and organizer for the hardest job in the building - many don’t realize how very much more there is to it than answering phones and scheduling appointments!)
⭐️Katy - Practice Manager, 5 years (HR, new operating systems, so many balls in the air! Thanks for making sure we all get paid and the bills are paid on time!)
⭐️Allison - Veterinary Assistant, 5 years (she is an ideal surgery and dental assistant and already 10 steps ahead of you!)

Here’s another fine group of people that are so easy to celebrate! These lovely ladies have been with us between 6-9 years. 🤯 Time flies and we love them more every day!

⭐️Jennifer - Resort Attendant, just short of 9 years (If your baby comes home refusing to acknowledge that he/she is a dog, this girl is behind it! You can rest assured your baby gets plenty of love - and conversation- from her during their stay!) 🥰
⭐️Dr. Crider - Veterinarian, 7 years (This sweet lady never gets her feathers ruffled and is always a calming presence to pets, owners and coworkers) 🧘‍♀️
⭐️Dr. Metcalf - Veterinarian, 8 years (Though her absence felt like an eternity, we are so thankful she found her way back to Mercy and picked right up where she left off - with supernatural speed!)
⭐️Tammy - Resort Manager, very near 8 years (Tammy maintains a positive relationship and shows such patience in training her employees to ensure the safety and comfort of your crew while they stay with us)
⭐️Madison - Licensed Veterinary Technician, 6 years (She is in school working to earn her bachelors degree with aspirations of earning her Veterinary Technician specialty certification in anesthesia 📚🤯 - hard stuff! She runs our surgery days with the utmost attention to detail)
⭐️Jen - Veterinary Assistant, 6 years (Some of you may have followed her journey with a brain tumor 2 years ago. We are so thankful she has been able to return to work with us a few hours a week - she is always so helpful!)
⭐️Dr. Fanning - Veterinarian, 6 years (From her notes to her exams, thoroughness is her strength 💪- no stone unturned!)
⭐️Tiffany - Veterinary Assistant, 6 years (Though she is on an extended maternity leave, we refuse to let her think she has escaped us! We are holding her place and ready to throw a party when the time is right for her to return!)

Employee Appreciation Week is the perfect time to introduce our newest Veterinarian!

Please help us welcome Dr. Krol! 🐾

Dr. Krol earned his bachelor’s degree in wildlife and fisheries in 2013 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2017, both from Mississippi State University. His veterinary interests include physical therapy, geriatric care, and aquatic medicine, with a special interest in working with fish whenever the opportunity arises.

Originally from coastal Mississippi, Dr. Krol met his wife, Marinel, while working in emergency medicine. The two later moved to Auburn, where he pursued a PhD in aquatic medicine, specifically researching shrimp and fish viruses.

After their time in Auburn, Dr. Krol and Marinel moved to Jemison where he returned to small animal medicine. We’re excited that his journey has brought him to us at Mercy Animal Hospital!

We’re so excited to have Dr. Krol join our crew and we know you and your pets will love him! 🐾😁

Next up! These ladies have also been around here for a minute. We are thankful for everything about them - from their excellent patient care, attention to detail, and willingness to help anyone at anytime….to their comedic relief and entertainment they provide! 🤪 If you hear someone being loud in the back from the exam rooms, chances are it’s one of these 👀…we’ll let you guess which one. 😉

⭐️Chelsea, Veterinary Assistant, almost 13 years (heart of gold and caretaker to so many abandoned kitties, would do anything for anyone 🥹)
⭐️Kelsey, Licensed Veterinary Technician, 10 years (resident cytology guru, give her a 🔬 and she’s happy! She also does work for PennFoster’s Vet Technician Program on the side)
⭐️Brandie, Veterinary Assistant, almost 11 years (loves animals of all kinds with a crew of chickens and donkeys at home!)
⭐️Brandy, Veterinary Assistant, 14 years (after working with us in our early years, she went back to school, so she is a full time accountant by day and do-er of many things by night! From helping us purge and prepare for the move, to patient care, to prepping turnover towels for the GHS football games, we aren’t quite sure how she gets it all done)
⭐️NOT PICTURED-Jasmine, Veterinary Assistant, 10 years (she started in our resort, then trained as an assistant and is now in school with goals of being a Nurse Anesthetist; she still covers shifts with us when we need an extra hand and we are so grateful)

We kick this week off with the OG crew…as some like to say, many of these lovely people have been here “since the dirt.” 🎂 We just passed our 19th birthday/anniversary, so that will put it in perspective!

⭐️Jess, resort attendant, 18 years (she was in high school when she started! 👧)
⭐️Dan, our original Bark ‘n Stretch coordinator, 17 years (now semi retired, but still our on call handy man and helper with anything we need 💪 )
⭐️Elisha, groomer, 14 years (she also met her husband at Mercy when he worked here 💕)
⭐️Kat, Senior Assistant/Technician Manager, 18 years (almost dirt, long enough to complete her Trammell Mind Reader Certification)

📢Krusty would like to let everyone know that this upcoming week (Oct 19-23) is our Employee Appreciation Week!

We will be closing from 12-2 this week to treat everyone to a little more leisurely lunch and mid-day break. This will not affect available appointment times, but please plan accordingly for medication and pet drop offs and pick ups.

Thank you for understanding and allowing us this time together! We appreciate all of you!
