Many of you may remember Cherisse, one of our very valuable veterinary assistants, who was a part of the Prime Care team for several years. Well, after many semesters and much hard work, Cherisse is close to becoming a full fledged veterinarian! 🥳

We have been so happy to have her here working with us the past two weeks, and will be sad to see her go again. But next time we see her, we will likely be addressing her as Dr. Cherisse!!

Join us in wishing Cherisse the best of luck with completing her studies, and becoming the next wonderful veterinarian to join the field! 🩷

It's mushroom season, and owners should be aware of some common types that are toxic to their pets. 🍄🍄‍🟫

Signs of mushroom poisoning can include vomiting and diarrhea, excessive drooling or foaming at the mouth, weakness, staggering, or lethargy, tremors, shaking, or seizures, yellow gums or skin (jaundice from liver damage).

If you suspect your pet has ingested a toxic mushroom, act fast and call the 24 hour Pet Poison Helpline at (855) 764-7661 immediately. If you take your pet to an emergency facility, try to safely pick a leftover piece of the mushroom, place it in a paper bag (not plastic), and bring it to the clinic. Or photograph it to help identify the toxin. Do not wait! Symptoms can show in 15 minutes or be delayed by hours, but early treatment saves lives. 🐾
