Vaccines are often misunderstood as something that simply “builds up” in a puppy’s system over time, but that’s not really how it works. A puppy vaccine series is actually a process of trying to find the right window of opportunity.

Puppies receive maternal antibodies from their mother. Those antibodies help protect them early in life, but they also create a challenge: when maternal antibodies are still present, they can recognize a standard vaccine (like a regular DHPP - distemper/Parvo vaccine) and neutralize it before the puppy’s immune system has a chance to respond. In simple terms, the vaccine gets “kicked out” and becomes ineffective.

That’s the reason puppies receive a series of vaccines instead of just one. It isn’t because immunity is stacking up with each shot. It’s because we don’t know exactly when maternal antibodies will drop low enough to stop interfering. Different puppies can lose those antibodies at different times, even within the same litter.

This is one reason NeoPar is different and why some breeders choose to use it. NeoPar was designed specifically for early parvovirus protection and has been shown to stimulate the puppy’s own antibody production even when maternal antibodies are still present at certain levels.

All our puppies receive a NeoPar vaccine between 4-5 weeks old so that they can start developing their own antibodies sooner. This keeps them safe and healthy.

BOYS WIN!
The first experience out of the whelping box starts in the potty box. For two reasons. One, because they just woke up it encourages them to potty where they are suppose to. Second, it presents a puzzle. They have the learn how to step over the lip of the box.
Today all three boys mastered the art of stepping out of the box. Don’t worry, the girls will get there. When the younger puppies are introduced it will be even easier as the older puppies will show them how it’s done.

The fun begins at 4 weeks with new experiences like…food! Oh the mess they make. 🤦‍♀️

Happy 4 weeks Benny, Banks, BeeBee, Brody, Bree, Bambie. They graduate to the big puppy box downstairs! Here they will begin their introduction to cats, birds, other dogs, kids, loud noises and more. In another week they get to go outside! I think Auggie is ready.
