We have some exciting news to share!

Thanks to a grant from the ASPCA's The Rescue Effect, we will be offering FREE Sponsored Adoption Days two weekends each month throughout August, September, and October!

That means if you adopt a dog during one of these special adoption weekends, your adoption fee will be covered in full by the grant. The only cost to bring your new best friend home will be the Ross County dog license, which is $12.

There are no breed restrictions, no age restrictions, and no catch. If a dog is available for adoption during one of these weekends, they qualify.

Our adoption process is conversation based. Rather than a lengthy application, we'll spend a few minutes talking with you about your home, your lifestyle, and what you're looking for in a dog. Every dog has a different personality, energy level, and set of needs, and those conversations help us guide you toward the dog that is most likely to be a great fit for your family.

If you've never adopted from us before, don't worry. Our process is friendly, relaxed, and designed to help you find the right dog, not make you jump through hoops.

Whether you're looking for a walking buddy, a family dog, a cuddle bug, or a senior who has retirement all figured out, we're here to help make a match that sets both you and your new dog up for success.

Our first Sponsored Adoption Day is THIS Saturday, August 8. If you've been thinking about adopting, this is the perfect time to come meet your new best friend.

In honor of our adopted pound puppy's birthday, here is a dog-safe cake recipe for you to enjoy with your fur baby! Even if it's not their birthday!

Ingredients:
• 1 egg
• ¼ cup xylitol-free peanut butter**
• ¼ cup cooking oil
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 cup shredded carrots
• 1 cup whole wheat or white flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease six cups of a cupcake tin.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the egg, peanut butter, oil, and vanilla. Once blended, stir in carrots.
3. Whisk together the flour and baking soda in a separate bowl and fold into the batter until just combined.
4. Evenly disperse the batter across the six cupcake tins and bake for 40 minutes.
5. Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes, then allow them to cool completely on a wire rack before serving one to your pup!

It's getting to be that time of year again where the weather is MISERABLE! We found this little flyer that can help you with your dog during this hot humid weather. Main KEY things to remember
- If the pavement is hot to the touch TO NOT make your dog walk on it
- If your dog is overheating DO NOT put cold water on them it can and will send them into shock
-Watch for signs of heat stroke it could save your dog's life knowing the signs
- And DO NOT leave your dog outside with no shade or water it is not safe nor ok to do
