We're here at the Galesburg Farmer's Market! Plenty of plant starts, plus lettuce mix and our beautiful radishes!

Since Monday we:
Planted 90 feet of potatoes
Transplanted all of our tomatoes (106, up from only 44 last year)
Transplanted half of our peppers (36 so far)
Transplanted four varieties of squash
Set up trellises (for tomatoes)
Built new beds
Top dressed 300 feet of beds
AND watered most of the farm (by HAND, we have no municipal water on site)
Plus- harvesting for our CSA tomorrow and Farmers Market on Saturday!

*phew*

Please don't contact us on Sunday, we will be sleeping.

We hope everyone is able to enjoy the beautiful weather this week! Speaking of this week, this is the last week to sign up for our CSA with Prairie Punk Farms. There are a few spots left, so be sure to sign up today at: https://www.prairiepunkfarms.com/products. Our first CSA pickup is on Friday May 1st!

In the following weeks, we get to be out in the community and hope to see you there:

Tomorrow (4/22) we will be participating in the Galesburg Public Library's Earth Day talk and seed swap.

On Saturday (4/25), celebrate Earth Day with us at Libby’s Corner by enjoying delicious BBQ, Q's Brownies, and taking home some plant starts to add to your garden while planting a few in the Orchard.

We are excited to be a part of Food Truck Fridays event on 5/8 in downtown Galesburg. We will be bringing a ton of plant starts to sell to you all, including tomatoes, peppers, and flowers.

Lastly, we will be at the Galesburg Farmers Market on Saturday May 9th to kick off the market season!

It's been five years to the day since we first had access to what is now Prairie Punk Farms. At that point we were renting. By the next year we had purchased it. We have put so much love and sweat and blood and tears into this little plot of land. I couldn't be more proud of us. We took what was basically an empty lot and grew something that feeds the community as well as our souls.
I have so many more pictures I want to share with you all, but it will have to be in another post. Twenty just doesn't cover all of changes, and the growth!
I want to give so many thanks to the friends and family who have helped us along the way. From joining us to plant over 100 native shrubs, helping break ground, donating tools and supplies, watching and feeding our chickens, planting and weeding; and for every person who has purchased a CSA share, plant starts and produce at the farmers market, or eggs from us. We couldn't have done it without you. Here's to five more years! I can't wait to see where we are by then.
