🐹 Case of the Week: Breast Cancer in Guinea Pigs
Did you know that guinea pigs can develop mammary tumors, too? While we often associate breast cancer with other animals, guinea pigs are also susceptible to these growths—and even males can be affected!
This little guy underwent surgery to have a mammary tumor removed. His case is a great reminder that unusual lumps or bumps should never be ignored, regardless of your pet’s species or s*x.
If you notice a new lump, swelling, or other unusual changes in your guinea pig, have your veterinarian examine it. Early evaluation can help determine what’s going on and what treatment may be needed.
