Good food and great company! 🎪❤️

A huge thank you to Hill’s Pet Nutrition for treating our VRA team to an incredible dinner in celebration of VRA Week! 🐾

Not only did they provide a delicious meal for our staff, but they also took the time to stop by, spend time with our team, and celebrate alongside us.

We truly appreciate their generosity, thoughtfulness, and continued partnership. It's wonderful to work with people who genuinely care about the veterinary professionals behind the scenes.

Meet Tango, a one-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog with one incredible comeback story. ❤️

In August, Tango arrived at VRA critically ill after suffering severe heat stroke. His condition was life-threatening, and for six days, our Critical Care team provided around-the-clock care as he worked toward recovery.

It was a scary time for Tango and everyone who loves him, but this sweet boy made it through and was able to go home to his family.

And what has Tango been up to since?

Running around the backyard, chasing squirrels and deer, and, of course, making plenty of time for bedtime cuddles. 🐿️💕

His family put it perfectly: “It's great to have him back!”

Tango's primary veterinarian has even given him a new nickname: “The Miracle Dog.” And after everything he's been through, it's easy to understand why.

His story is also an important reminder of how quickly heat stroke can become life-threatening for our pets. Recognizing the danger and seeking emergency veterinary care quickly can make all the difference.

We're so grateful to Tango's family for sharing his story and to the dedicated team members who helped care for him during those critical days.

Keep enjoying those backyard adventures, Tango. Just maybe give the squirrels a little head start! 🐶💙

Meet Wynonna, our VRA Blood Donor of the Week! ❤️

This beautiful girl is part of a very special family. Her brother, Deacon, is also a blood donor, making these two quite the lifesaving duo!

Blood donors like Wynonna and Deacon play an important role in helping pets facing serious illness, injury, or emergency surgery. When a patient needs a blood transfusion, having donors ready to help can make all the difference.

And here's something you might not know: Being a blood donor comes with benefits for your pet, too! 🐶

VRA's Blood Donor Program includes comprehensive health screening, veterinary exams before donations, a free bag of food after each donation, and yearly exams and bloodwork for eligible donors. It's an opportunity to help other animals while also keeping a closer eye on your own pet's health!

A familiar face and a very sweet surprise!

Meet Otis, a pug whose family recently shared his journey through an unexpected medical emergency.

After Otis became ill, concerning lab results prompted his veterinarian to recommend an emergency visit. Otis ultimately needed emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder.

His family shared that the surgery was successful and that Otis has been feeling better.

Recently, Otis returned to VRA to have his surgical staples removed, but he didn't come empty-handed! His family brought Crumbl cookies as a thank-you to our Surgery and hospital teams. 🍪

Moments like these mean so much to our team. We're grateful to have been part of Otis's care and especially grateful to his family for taking the time to share their experience.

It’s Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Week — a perfect opportunity to take you inside a part of VRA that many people may never get to see.

Our Nuclear Medicine team uses specialized technology and expertise to help diagnose and treat patients in ways that aren’t possible through more traditional approaches alone, including I-131 therapy for cats with hyperthyroidism.

Right now, VRA needs more feline blood donors. 🐾🩸
In this video, Izzy gives us a look at what it’s like to bring her cat in to donate blood through VRA’s Blood Donor Program.
When a critically ill cat needs a transfusion, that blood has to come from another cat. Behind every transfusion is a donor and an owner willing to help another family’s pet when they need it most.
We know asking someone to consider their cat as a blood donor is a big ask. That’s why we want owners to see what the process actually looks like, how much care goes into every step, and what being part of the program means for the donor, too.
And right now, we truly need more feline donors.
In addition to helping save other pets, VRA blood donors receive benefits including:
• a comprehensive exam before each donation
• a yearly exam and bloodwork
• after three donations, a 20% discount on services performed at VRA while your pet remains a current donor
• after three donations, free blood products for your donor pet for life if they should ever need them
If you have a healthy cat who may be a good fit, please consider taking the first step. Your cat could be the reason another feline patient has blood available when they need it most.
