Betty’s sharp little puppy teeth are no joke! But today she put that busy puppy brain to work! 🦈🐾

In our training session, Betty learned some problem-solving skills to earn her reward with less teeth involved. Instead of leading with those tiny chompers, she practiced making calmer, gentler choices and figuring out how to get what she wants without using those sharp puppy teeth. 😃

The goal: less bitey, more licky. And lots of thoughtful puppy choices in between! 💕🐶

Betty the Labrador puppy came ready to learn—and ready to have fun! 🐾💛

This sharp little girl worked on walking nicely on her leash, checking in and engaging with her family, and paying close attention to hand signals. 🤩

Betty also discovered that using her brain can be just as exciting as playtime when she got to try the Kong Wobbler. She loved the challenge and happily put those puppy problem-solving skills to work! 🤓🧠

With her eager attitude, smart mind, and wonderful family support, Betty is building a fantastic foundation one fun training session at a time. We can’t wait to see what this bright girl learns next! 🐶✨

This achievement marks an important step toward Lucas’s upcoming therapy dog certification and his future work supporting first responders and communities across Florida following critical incidents. ❤️🫡

We are proud of this dedicated team and grateful for their commitment to caring for the people who care for all of us. Please join us in celebrating Lucas and Captain Lykens on this wonderful accomplishment! 💙🐶

Special thank you to Jenny at PUPS Dog Training for serving as their AKC CGC Evaluator. 😊

Say hello to Callie! Her job is to travel with her mom, especially on planes. Callie helps her mom focus her attention on training and kisses instead of being afraid of the plane!

Something is clearly going on in Gainesville… 👀🐾

The University of Florida Public Safety has just debuted their working dog, Maverick—at the exact same time Gainesville Canine Academy introduced our service dog Maverick.

Two highly trained dogs. One very memorable name. One suspiciously perfect coincidence. 🧐

We’re not saying there’s a Maverick convention happening behind the scenes, but if a third Maverick appears in a vest this week, we may need to launch an investigation. 🔎🐶
Congratulations to UFPD and their new K-9 partner! From one Maverick team to another, we’re excited to see both pups make a difference in the Gainesville community. 💙🧡

🐾 Maverick’s First Day on the Job! 🇺🇸🐾

Today Maverick had his very first public-access training session at Hobby Lobby, and this future service dog for his dad - a proud Navy veteran who served as a Combat Medic with the Marines - absolutely rocked it! 🎉🇺🇸

Now, let’s be clear… Maverick is a Boxer, so naturally he has chosen to specialize in the fine art of “Down.” 😂
Floor? DOWN. ⬇️
Waiting? DOWN. ⬇️
Taking a break? DOWN. ⬇️
Someone might have a treat? Immediately DOWN. 🤣

But underneath all that Boxer silliness is a smart, sweet boy who is learning exactly what it takes to become his dad’s service dog. Today was a fantastic first step, and we couldn’t be prouder of this handsome guy!

Maverick: 1st public access session — NAILED IT. 🐕‍🦺💙⚓️
