We lost a great horse yesterday. Officer Merlin was one of my horses on the Gainesville Police Mounted Unit. He retired in 2017 and shortly after he became Naomi’s horse.

We were riding on the beach in St Augustine yesterday when Merlin suffered a heart attack and passed away on the beach. He had the best life and was greatly loved by Naomi.

A HUGE thank you to the St John’s County Sheriffs Office, Fire Rescue Department, Beach Patrol and the Large Animal Rescue Unit! They all helped us get Merlin off the beach and loaded on a trailer so we could bring him home. He is now buried here in his pasture. Rest easy my ole friend! ❤️

Learning how to canter on the horse can be challenging. These girls have been doing great!
