I am reaching out to make buyers and fellow breeders aware of a situation that occurred recently involving an individual who contacted JLS Dachshunds about purchasing a puppy.
On August 4, 2026, an individual contacted me about purchasing a puppy. After reviewing information that came to my attention regarding the individual and concerns about the intended placement of the puppy, I made the decision not to proceed with the sale. The deposit was returned.
JLS Dachshunds takes the placement of our puppies very seriously. Our responsibility does not end when a puppy leaves our care. We want our puppies placed in loving, appropriate homes where their long-term health and well-being are the priority.
Following my decision not to sell this individual a puppy, I became aware of online activity directed toward JLS Dachshunds that I believe is connected to this dispute, including negative and allegedly misleading statements made through online platforms and accounts.
We strongly dispute all statements this woman is claiming and know all of the allegations are false, misleading, and damaging to our reputation and our breeding business.
We maintain records concerning our puppies, veterinary care, health records, transactions, and communications with our customers. Those records do not support the claims made in June's review. Because customer and veterinary information is private, we will not disclose confidential records or attempt to litigate the matter in a public Google review.
We also want to be clear that statements accusing a business of operating irresponsibly, knowingly selling sick animals, or operating as a “puppy mill” are serious allegations. We take false statements that damage our professional reputation very seriously.
As a Georgia business owner, we reserve all rights and remedies available under Georgia law concerning false and defamatory statements, including potential legal action for libel/defamation where the applicable legal requirements are met. Georgia law recognizes written defamatory statements that damage a person's or business's reputation as libel.
We are preserving the review, related communications, veterinary records, transaction records, and other documentation relevant to these allegations. If necessary, these materials can be provided to legal counsel and the appropriate authorities.
We welcome legitimate and good-faith customer feedback. We do not, however, believe anyone should be permitted to publish false allegations that unfairly damage a business or an individual's reputation.
For additional clarity, our breeding operation is fully licensed and inspected as required by the applicable regulatory organizations. We are USDA licensed and inspected, licensed and inspected by the Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA), and have also undergone AKC inspections and are compliant. We maintain the required licenses, inspection records, veterinary records, health records, breeding records, and other applicable documentation. These records are available to the appropriate authorities and demonstrate that we take compliance, animal welfare, and responsible breeding extremely seriously.
The Georgia Department of Agriculture specifically regulates pet dealers and kennels and requires licensed establishments to maintain records that are available for inspection. The AKC also conducts inspections that examine the care and conditions of dogs, facilities, and breeding/ownership records.
We stand by our dogs, our business, our records, and the care we provide.
