🩺 Behind every wagging tail and successful adoption at Hall County Animal Shelter is a team working tirelessly behind the scenes: our incredible Veterinary Technicians! 🐾
Being a shelter vet tech means wearing a dozen different hats every single day. From coordinating intake exams and administering life-saving vaccines to monitoring anesthesia during spay/neuter surgeries, our techs do it all with endless compassion. 💉❤️
They are the vital backbone that helps us prep hundreds of pets for their forever homes. 🏡✨
Next time you visit us on Barber Road, join us in giving a massive THANK YOU to the medical team that keeps Hall County’s pets healthy, safe, and loved!

October is Feral Cat Awareness Month!

Feral cats are un-socialized outdoor cats living in neighborhoods. Unlike lost or stray cats, they are fearful of humans and thrive in outdoor colonies. Since feral cats belong in their outdoor homes, our Community Cat Program focuses on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). We collaborate with residents and caregivers to humanely trap, spay/neuter, vaccinate, and return outdoor cats to their familiar territory.

Did you know that an unspayed female cat can have 2-3 litters per year, averaging 4 to 6 kittens each time?

Through our Community Cat Program, between January 1st and October 1st, we sterilized 753 cats and kittens (407 females and 346 males)! Without spaying, those 407 females could have produced an estimated 5,000+ kittens this year alone.

Why Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) matters:
✅Prevents overpopulation
✅Improves the overall health and safety of community cats
✅Reduces the nuisance behaviors like spraying and fighting
✅Eases the burden on shelter intakes

How you can help:
✅Fix the cats you feed: Keep community cat populations healthy and manageable by getting your colony fixed.
✅Spread the word: Educate your neighbors about the benefits of TNR and share our resources with anyone caring for outdoor cats.
✅Support the program: Volunteer to trap cats, or donate humane traps and cat food to keep our team going!

To learn more about TNR today and help us make a lasting difference for our community cats, email Nicole Jones at [email protected] or visit our website.
