School is Back on Monday August 10th and our pets will feel the changes. πŸŽ’πŸΎ

The new school year means new routines. Swipe through for four easy ways to help them adjust:

1️⃣ Double-check ID tags and microchip info
2️⃣ Ease separation anxiety with music, TV, or a worn piece of clothing
3️⃣ Fit in morning exercise before the house goes quiet
4️⃣ Keep minds busy with puzzle toys and enrichment

A few small adjustments now can make the transition smoother for the whole family, furry members included.

And we're just a call away if you have any major concerns or needs.

❄️ COOL PET SUMMER, made easy:

πŸ₯€ Add ice cubes to the water bowl, or freeze low-sodium broth into pupsicles
🌳 Walk before 9 AM or after 7 PM when the pavement has had time to cool
🧊 A damp towel on the belly or a cooling mat helps short-haired and senior pets especially
🌬️ Keep a fan pointed at outdoor water and shade setups, moving air cools faster than still air

Small habits like these keep tails wagging through the hottest stretch of the year.

🌟 Above & Beyond - June 2026🌟

Thank you, Katelyn! 🐾

This June, Katelyn went above and beyond, picking up several extra shifts to cover our reception area solo, so our clients and their pets continued to receive the timely, caring service they count on.

We're grateful for your hard work and commitment to our patients and their families!

πŸš— A car parked in the shade with the windows cracked can still climb past 100Β°F in ten minutes.

The safest place for your pet during errands this summer is home, with water and AC or a fan running.

If you spot a pet alone in a hot car in Gainesville, note the location and call animal control or 911. Every minute matters.

Bring your furry co-pilot along only when your stop is pet-friendly and quick. 🐾

🌑️ HEATSTROKE 101 for pet parents

Dogs and cats cool down very differently than we do, and early signs can look like normal panting until they aren't.

Watch for:
🐢 Heavy panting that doesn't slow down, bright red gums, drooling, wobbly legs
🐱 Cats hide their discomfort well, so restlessness, open-mouth breathing, or lying flat and unwilling to move are red flags

If you spot these signs, move your pet to a cool space, offer water, and call us right away. Acting fast makes a real difference.

Save this post so you have it on hand all summer. πŸ“Œ

🌟 Above & Beyond Award: 2026 Q2 Recipients 🌟

At Gainesville Animal Hospital, our team votes for coworkers who go above and beyond for our patients, clients, and each other. Staff submit nominations into voting boxes at each location, and our doctors choose the recipients. This quarter, we're proud to recognize two team members.

Jolie took on updating our pharmacy book in April, giving our team accurate, current information to support patient care.

Camalyne picked up extra shifts in May, helping keep our hospital fully staffed and our patients well cared for.

Congratulations to both of you, and thank you for showing up for our patients and each other! 🐾

🐾 PAW-SAFETY CHECK: If pavement is too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.

Gainesville highs are sitting in the low-to-mid 90s this week, and asphalt can run 40-50Β°F hotter than the air above it. Press the back of your hand to the sidewalk for 7 seconds before a walk. If you can't hold it, save the walk for early morning or evening.

πŸ• Look for grass or shaded paths when the sun is high.
πŸ• Booties work great for dogs who walk on trails or beach sand too.

Questions about paw burns or blisters? Give us a call, we're happy to help. πŸ“ž

πŸŽ† Happy 250th Birthday, America!

Gainesville Animal Hospital will be closed today in celebration of Independence Day and will reopen Monday, July 6th.

We hope your holiday is filled with joy and good food and great company. As the fireworks light up the sky tonight, remember your four-legged family members. Many pets find the sounds of fireworks stressful, so keep them in a safe, quiet space indoors, make sure their ID tags and microchip info are current, and stay close to home if possible.

From our whole family to yours -- have a safe and happy Fourth! πŸΎπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
