Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa), aka Sorrel or the Florida Cranberry, is a tropical plant native to Africa and classified as a Hibiscus. It’s valued for its culinary uses and vibrant, ornamental beauty. The edible calyx (pod) has a crunchy, tart, sour, citrusy flavor and encases the fruit’s seeds. The foliage is also edible with similar flavors!

The plant is used in African and Caribbean cultures for traditional medicine and cooking, esp for making jams, sauces, and salads. Most popular use for Roselle is “hibiscus tea” aka “Agua de Jamaica” which is widely known amongst many cultures as a healthy and refreshing beverage.

Truly, a must try.

VOLUNTEER WITH US Siembra Farm 💪🏽🐓🦝
Our 1st Volunteer day of the Season will be
Saturday, Oct 3rd
10am-2pm
& We’d love your help!

Our Fall Volunteer Session will run twice weekly from 10/3-12/19
🥕 Saturdays 10am-2pm
🥕 Mondays 8am-12pm

No experience is necessary! Bring a friend, hat, sunscreen, water bottle, and snacks!

🌻 What you can expect: weeding, washing bins, and harvesting vegetables. (gloves & water will be available)
🌻 This is a great opportunity to see our farm, get your hands dirty, and learn more about farming while supporting local agriculture!

Make sure to bring a reusable bag for taking home a share of the harvest in return for your help! Thanks & see you out there 😋
