Why is everybody looking so happy? They’re overwhelmed by all the incredible donations left in FJCAS donation jars this month!

We’re so grateful to everyone in our community who donates their extra dollars and spare change when visiting the great local shops all over Jackson County. And we’re so grateful to our local businesses who share valuable counter space with our donation jars and help us raise funds for Jackson County animals in need.

So, drum roll, please … THE CASH JAR DONATIONS TALLY FOR AUG 1-SEPT 10 IS $241.50 - WOW!

In animal welfare terms, that’s 3 sponsored dog spays or 4 sponsored cat spays or a month’s worth of community pet food for owners in need! These are your donations at work - and every cent goes to the animals.

The Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter (FJCAS) is holding its Annual Fall Yard Sale on Saturday, September 19, starting 8am at the Old Dairy Shack located at 544 N Grundy Quarles Hwy, Gainesboro, TN.

We put out the call requesting donations and WOW! Did our community respond!

We are overwhelmed with donations and so much great stuff! This is going to be a wonderful Yard Sale and you will not want to miss it!

We have received so much, the building is packed to the gills and there’s no room for more! So we are closing down our donation period as of today to give us a chance to sort and organize everything and get ready for the sale on September 19!

Our huge, unstoppable, heartfelt thanks to everyone who brought donations, large and small! FJCAS is staffed by unpaid volunteers only and ALL proceeds go toward our community pet food distribution, pet fostering program, and saving for the shelter build. We love our community and are so grateful for your love and care toward animals.

See you at the Yard Sale on Saturday, September 19!

HAPPY TAILS! A Second Chance for Ringo!
============

Ringo is a lovely guy whose life took a sad and unexpected turn a few months ago when his beloved owner passed away. The Sheriff’s Dept. called FJCAS and we were glad to be able to help this sweet dog and foster him.

Today, Ringo found his second chance: He was adopted and is on his way to a new home with a wonderful new family, complete with a doggie sister to play with! They are naming him Chance - a fresh start for him in every way!

THANK YOU TO ALL FJCAS DONORS, SUPPORTERS AND FOSTERS. This Happy Tail is your donations at work. Because of you, Ringo is healthy, happy, neutered, fully vaccinated and starting his new life on a good paw!

Fostering is our only option for housing dogs like Ringo until we have a shelter. If you’ve ever thought about fostering a dog or cat, we’d love to hear from you. FJCAS covers the cost of all food and medical needs for fostered animals until they find their forever home. ❤️

💜 **Senior Chihuahua Looking for a Loving Home**

**Currently in Jackson County, TN**

Meet **Bobby**, a sweet senior Chihuahua who has spent his entire life as a cherished indoor companion. He belonged to an elderly couple in Missouri, but after the wife passed away, their family had to relocate Bobby’s owner to Tennessee for care and support.

Bobby’s person loves him deeply, but due to age, mobility concerns, and he can no longer give Bobby the daily care he deserves — and the family is unable to keep him indoors due to allergies. Bobby is currently staying safely in the garage, and his owner walks him, but this arrangement won’t be sustainable as winter approaches.

This little guy has been loved his whole life. He’s calm, loyal, and simply wants a warm lap, a soft bed, and someone who will let him enjoy his golden years with dignity.

Weets is a **sweet, mellow girl** with a calm, easygoing personality. She’s **housebroken, affectionate, and loves people** — the perfect companion for someone who enjoys quiet company and gentle energy.

Her owner is **facing health challenges** and is sadly overwhelmed, so we’re helping to find Weets a safe, loving home.

👉 **This is not part of the FJCAS program**, but we will be **reviewing applications** to ensure she lands in the right place.

UPDATE: FJCAS has had an overwhelming response to our upcoming Namaste Spay Neuter Days! We are holding off taking any additional applications until we have a chance to review all that we have received already.

The Jason Heigl Foundation has selected FJCAS as recipient hosts of the Namaste Spay & Neuter Initiative! This incredible grant will provide three days of FREE spay and neuter (including rabies vaccine and microchip) for Jackson County pets!

The Namaste dates are set for three Wednesdays: September 16, October 7 and October 21.

Huge thanks to the Jason Heigl Foundation for extending this generous opportunity to our community!

It’s the event bargain hunters and pet lovers alike look forward to every year! And this time, your support will go even farther because Spay Tennessee is MATCHING the first $500 we raise! That means $1,000 total from the Yard Sale will go to sponsoring low-cost spays/neuters for animals in Jackson County!

Additional funds raised will support our growing pet fostering program, which is so essential until Jackson County has a shelter.

TO DONATE ITEMS: Yard Sale Donations accepted from 1pm-4pm every Tuesday at the former Dairy Shack, 544 N. Grundy Quarles Gainesboro, TN (located between Lane’s and Sammy's). Grateful for your clean, gently used, working order, unbroken items. No cloth furniture, please, and no mattresses.
