THIS EVENT COULDN'T HAVE COME AT A BETTER TIME! The Pick Me! SC statewide adoption event is happening now, and we need our community more than ever. In the past two weeks alone, Cherokee County Animal Shelter & Rescue has taken in 130 new animals. Every kennel is full, and new animals continue to arrive daily. While we are doing everything we can to care for them, we need your help to create space and save lives.

Many of the dogs and cats currently waiting have been overlooked for weeks and even months through no fault of their own. They are wonderful pets simply waiting for someone to give them a chance.

Everyone is now on summer break and adoptions have slowed recently. The cats and dogs in this video need help now more than ever. Our rescue division is operating at constant max capacity, while animal control continues to bring in more animals in need. Every empty kennel matters and every adoption truly saves a life.

🎬🐾 Monkey took a trip to Blacksburg this morning to make his television debut on WSPA’s Your Carolina—and let’s just say he handled his newfound fame like a pro.

Did he arrive with enough energy to power a small town? Absolutely.

Did he spend the morning being a perfect gentleman, making friends with everyone he met, and soaking up every bit of attention? Also absolutely.

Monkey didn’t meet a stranger on set. From the moment he arrived, he was all smiles, tail wags, and charm. He loved every person he encountered and proved that while he may enjoy a good zoomie session, he also knows how to behave when it counts.

This handsome guy is just 2 years old and has been waiting at Cherokee County Animal Shelter & Rescue for about three months. What he’s missing isn’t training, personality, or good looks—it’s simply a family to call his own.

Monkey dreams of having:
🏡 A yard where he can run and play
🚗 Adventures with his people
🛋 A couch for afternoon naps
❤️ A family to shower with affection (and occasionally demand belly rubs from)

After spending the morning as a TV star, Monkey is hoping his next big break is finding his forever home.

The Cherokee County Animal Shelter & Rescue will be open tomorrow from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM, and Monkey will be there waiting to meet you.
