Please vaccinate your pets. A rabies vaccine is a small price to pay to essentially eliminate the chance of your pet contracting rabies and exposing a number of family/friends. Rabies is almost always 100% deadly.

Visit us to get your pet up to date. Rabies vaccines are not a one dose and done for life. Depending on which vaccine your Veterinarian uses, this could mean a booster yearly or every 3 years. Our office specifically uses a yearly vaccine as most of your pet's other vaccines are yearly as well, making it easier to keep track.

Some rabies vaccine info!
-There are multiple manufacturers for rabies vaccines. Our office uses the Merck Animal Health, 1 year vaccine (Nobivac).
-A dosage for all dogs and cats (regardless of weight) is 1 mL. This is due to the goal of a vaccine being to stimulate the immune system NOT reach a certain blood concentration like with antibiotics and other medications.
-The rabies vaccine is a very low reactive vaccine. This means that if side effects do occur, typically things like lethargy or swelling at the site of injection.

You do not need an appointment to update your pet's rabies vaccine, however a Veterinarian does have to be present so be sure to come during doctors' hours.

There is a new ANTI-ITCH medication in town! And it is just in time for spring.

Introducing, NUMELVI, a new FDA approved, fast-acting, safe, SECOND generation drug for allergic dermatitis!

What is allergic dermatitis?
Allergic dermatitis is an inflammatory condition of the skin that is usually chronic and can be caused by multiple or a combination of factors. Some of these include: atopy (environmental allergens such as mold and pollen), food, or flea bites. These causes then lead to itching, topical infections, and chronic changes to the look and feel of the skin/coat.

Why is second generation so important?
Second generation refers to the more targeted/selective approach it has on JAK1 (the main pathway that drives itch). This leads to less side effects that may be caused by other medications that target more JAK inhibitors than just the one. This does NOT mean Apoquel is an un safe drug, however the veterinary field is constantly trying to improve and provide safe and even more targeted treatment for your pets!

What else makes NUMELVI different?
- Can be used in pets 6 months or older
- No initial double dosing needed
- Fast acting in 2-4 hours of first dose

Although treating allergies can be a long, frustrating process, we are happy to be able to offer more options for our patients!

Applicant needs to be:
18 years or older.
Dependable, honest, and teachable.
Comfortable with dogs (big and small) and cats.
Comfortable with horses.
Available during week days and occasional weekends.

Would be helpful, but not required, if applicant is:
Familiar with restraining animals.
Comfortable around other animals such as other farm animals and exotics (birds, pocket pets, etc).

You do not have to know everything just be willing to learn!

We hope that everyone enjoyed the snow!

We will be open tomorrow from 2-5pm to hopefully give the ice on the roads time to melt.
