Angel is somehow STILL on the market. How has no one snapped up this wee white honorary Westie mix yet? We are out here doing PR like she’s running for office, trying to spread the word about this Very Good Dog.

Angel is about 18 months old and has all the best qualities: energetic but not hyper, playful but able to settle, and at bedtime she curls up and sleeps like a tiny angel. She recently attended the WRNT Ice Cream Social and worked the crowd like a seasoned politician: friendly with everyone, wonderful with other dogs, and fully committed to savoring her pup cup.

Her start in life has been a little rough. She was found wandering the streets and later surrendered because her elderly owner could no longer care for her. When she first arrived in foster care, she viewed crates as a personal betrayal and thought puppy pads were the height of sophistication. But this girl is smart. In just a few weeks she’s made huge progress with crate training and pottying outside like a respectable member of dog society.

Angel would thrive in an active home that enjoys walks because this girl LOVES an outing. She walks well on a leash and would absolutely adore a playful canine sibling to wrestle lovingly around the living room.

In short: sweet, social, snuggly, playful, adorable and somehow still available. Somebody come get this dog!

If you would like to adopt Angel – or even just inquire about her – please either complete an application at www.wrnt.org or send us an email at [email protected].

If Angel’s not the dog for you, PLEASE SHARE so we can find her the right home. She needs our Westie network working to place her!

Westies galore! Yesterday’s Ice Cream Social looked like a tiny white dog convention with a side of chaos. Westies (plus their honorary Westie friends) were tearing around, inhaling pup cups like they hadn’t eaten in weeks, while the humans stood around discussing important topics such as grooming, barking, and why every Westie acts like they personally pay the mortgage.

A fabulous time was had by all — especially the dogs, who are probably still on a sugar high.

Next up: our Westie Facebook Auction. This is our big fundraiser of the year. Don’t miss it – more to come!

Get your Westie on the banner of our auction page! We’re looking for westies looking for something. This could be Westies sniffing out something good or tracking a pesky varmit! The prize is you get to be on WRNT’s Auction Page for an undetermined amount of time (usually about a week until we change banners again). The theme is “Sniffing Out Donations”! Post your pictures here!

No one has applied for Angel yet.

She’s 18 months old, adorable, hilarious, and FULL of personality. Yes, she has energy. Yes, she thinks “walk” means “Excellent, we ride at dawn.” But she is also incredibly sweet, affectionate, and devoted to her people.

Angel loves other dogs, loves attention, and loves being involved in absolutely everything you’re doing at all times forever.

And honestly? Her behavior is pretty manageable in the grand scheme of rescue dogs. She jumps when she’s excited because she’s basically a toddler on espresso. She hates the crate because she believes imprisonment without trial is unconstitutional. She came from a puppy-pad home, so potty training is still a work in progress. None of this makes her a bad dog. It makes her a young dog who needs consistency, patience, and someone willing to keep teaching her. There are no bad dogs in rescue; there are just dogs who need the right home.

What makes us sad is knowing she keeps getting overlooked while she waits for someone to see past the “work in progress” part and notice the amazing dog underneath.

Because she really is a wonderful little dog.

She will make you laugh. She will keep you active. She will absolutely love you with her whole heart. And one day, after the "puppy" settles down, she’s going to be somebody’s once-in-a-lifetime dog.

We just need to find her people first. Angel is going to provide YEARS of love for the right home.

Please share Angel. She deserves her chance.

AVAILABLE: Angel

Angel is an 18-month-old floppy-eared Westie mix who was found on the streets and has since decided indoor life should include cardio, cuddles and zero personal space.

Let’s be clear: Angel doesn’t go on walks—she stars in them. She’s looking for an adopter who hears “walkies” and laces up like they’re training for a 5K. Goal: walk her until she dramatically collapses into a heap of ears and satisfaction.

She’s wonderful with other dogs and currently co-hosts a daily WWE-style event with one of her foster siblings (all matches end in friendship).

Crates are, in her opinion, a violation of basic civil rights. She would much prefer a soft bed…or your bed…or honestly just you.

She IS a jumper, which we are actively rebranding as “enthusiastic aerial greetings.” Progress is being made. Slowly.

Her previous home was all about puppy pads, so house training is a work in progress—but she’s trying hard and would very much like a gold star (or a treat, she’s not picky).

In summary: Angel is a Very Good Girl with big energy, big feelings, and a big commitment to improving your cardiovascular health whether you asked for it or not. She just needs a home that can keep up, and she will provide you with years of entertainment and activity.

If you’d like to meet Angel, please send an email to [email protected] with your contact information or submit an adoption application at www.wrnt.org . We’d love to chat!

P.S. If Angel's not the dog for you, please share this post to help her find her forever home!

Congratulations to Mark and Susan, who adopted 11-year-old Lady this weekend.

Lady is exactly what her name promises: a total sweetheart who gets along with other dogs and is EXTREMELY Westie about squirrels. As soon as she arrived, the wildlife outside her foster dads’ home was formally notified that it was being watched, judged and barked at with great enthusiasm.

She does come with a few itchies, because of course she does—this is a terrier, not a porcelain doll. But her new humans are seasoned terrier pros, so they’re fully prepared for the occasional skin drama.

We especially love adopters who see an “imperfect” dog and think, “Perfect, I’ll take that one.” Those are the lucky pups who end up ridiculously loved and living their best lives.

Congratulations all around!

We are so happy for James and Joely, who adopted Roo/Roux, now rebranded as Rupert.

Rupert is a 5-month-old Westie puppy who joined WRNT and immediately said, “Thanks, I’ll take the forever home now.” Blink and you missed him.

His hobbies include snooping like a tiny detective and scaling their furniture so he can stare outside their big picture windows like a judgmental neighbor. He is fully convinced he is a cat and no one has had the heart to correct him.

Ollie, their schnauzer, has accepted his fate. The two of them spend their days sprinting in chaotic circles while Rupert steals toys just to wave them around like a tiny, fluffy villain with a heart of gold.

Big congratulations to James, Joely, Ollie, and especially Rupert!

We receive a lot of applications for a very small number of dogs. Think: Hunger Games, but fluffier.

Some are immediate non-starters:
“My mom’s Westie died. I want a Westie NOW.”

Yes. That is a real application. From this week.

Then there are the “meh” entries:
“I like Westies.”
“I like how they don’t shed.”
“My dog needs a companion.”

Cool.

Now ask yourself: If you had a truly wonderful Westie (and let’s be honest, they all are, each in their own weird little way), would this convince you to hand them over?

Probably not.

Which brings us to our favorite application question:
“Why have you chosen to adopt a Westie?”

This is your moment. Your audition. Your time to shine.

Tell us about the Westies you’ve loved before.
Tell us what you adore about the breed.
Tell us about your home, your life, and how much you miss having a little white dictator running it.
Tell us something.

Because “I like Westies” is not a love story. It’s a given. We need to know why YOU are the perfect home for a Westie.

Check out www.wrnt.org to adopt your perfect baby!
