Thinking about Lava—look how picture-perfect she is! Who can resist that face? She's ready for her close-up, and even more ready to leave the hospital.

Lava Cake is ready for a foster home! 🏡

After weeks of surgery and recovery with our team, this sweet girl is ready to trade hospital life for lazy mornings and a comfy couch. She's a champion snuggler, gives the best hugs, and will happily claim your bed as her own.

Our ideal foster for Lava:
🐾 Lives near Frisco (or can travel) to bring her to her planned follow-up visits at Atlas Pet Vets
🐾 Can let her be the only pet, or has a compatible, similar-sized dog (no cats or small dogs)

Our team will continue managing her medical care.

If you can open your home to Lava, please reach out via comments or message us at [email protected]. 💚

Lava Cake update! 🐾

Since arriving at Atlas Pet Vets, Lava has been through a lot and has come a long way. Our team removed her bladder stones, completed her spay, performed airway surgery, including work on her palate to help her breathe more comfortably, and removed infected teeth.

Her care isn’t finished yet. In the future, we hope to use CT imaging and 3D surgical planning to explore options for correcting her limb deformities. All to keep her comfortable and provide her with the best possible quality of life.

Now there’s one more thing Lava needs: a loving foster home where she can continue her recovery. If you can open your heart and home to Lava, please reach out via comments or message us at [email protected]. 💚

October is here, and Toddy is ready for colorful leaves, pumpkins, and crisp fall walks! 🍂🎃

What’s your pet’s favorite part of fall?

Look at Lava just 24 hours after surgery! She’s already outside walking and looking bright. 🐾

During one surgery, Lava had bladder stones removed, was spayed, had procedures to help her breathe more comfortably, including work on her palate, and had 10 infected teeth removed. Bringing that care together took careful planning, advanced surgical skills, and close attention to her safety throughout anesthesia.

Lava is breathing better and recovering from conditions that had caused her pain. She’ll need more care once she’s healed, but seeing her up and moving means so much.

Thank you to everyone supporting Lava and the Medical Rescue Fund. If you’d like to help with her continued care, donate or support here: https://atlaspetvets.com/medicalrescue/

A big shoutout to our neighbors at Cavalier Donuts & Coffee Lounge! ☕🍩🐾

We’re grateful they trust Atlas Pet Vets with the care of their three dogs, including Sunshine, and we’re especially thankful for their incredible support of the Atlas Pet Vets Medical Rescue Fund. They’ve made a significant donation and even fundraised at their shop to help pets in need receive the care they deserve.

You may remember Sunshine’s story. After being found as a stray in heartbreaking condition, he received critical care through the Medical Rescue Fund and has since found his forever home with the Cavalier Donuts & Coffee family. ❤️🐾

We’re lucky to have such fantastic neighbors right next door! Stop by Cavalier Donuts & Coffee Lounge for great food and coffee, and give them a follow at .

🦴 The tech behind precision surgery!

When a patient has an angular limb deformity, we don’t just eyeball it. Our team performs CT imaging, builds a 3D model of the affected limb, and then designs a surgical guide tailored to that patient’s unique anatomy. No two guides are alike, just like no two patients are!

That means the plan we map out on screen translates straight into the OR. More accuracy, less unnecessary bone removal, and osteotomy placement that lands right where it should.

It’s a little bit engineering, a little bit veterinary medicine, and a whole lot of teamwork. 🐾

We’re happy to share that the surgery was a success! We’re proud of our team and grateful to be able to use advanced technology to provide patients with precise, personalized care. ❤️

💔 Lava has been through more than any dog should.

She was sitting at the Fort Worth Animal Shelter with a deadline: someone needed to rescue her, or she would be euthanized. After suffering from severe neglect and irresponsible breeding, Lava arrived with significant medical challenges, including severely deformed back legs, difficulty breathing, a massive and painful bladder stone, severe pressure sores, infected and deteriorating teeth, skin allergies, an ear infection, and f***s caked into her paws.

Lava now needs extensive medical care, including bladder stone removal, advanced dental surgery, airway reconstruction, multiple orthopedic procedures, a spay, episioplasty, CT imaging, 3D surgical planning, medications, a prescription diet, and likely additional treatment as her needs become clearer.

Humans may have failed Lava, but her story doesn’t have to end there. ❤️ We are committed to giving her the care, comfort, and quality of life she should have had from the beginning.

If you’re able to donate to the Atlas Pet Vets Medical Rescue Fund, your support can help provide Lava with the extensive medical care she desperately needs. If you can’t donate, sharing her story can make a difference, too.

Lava deserves better, and we’re going to fight for the life she deserves. 🐾 https://atlaspetvets.com/medicalrescue/

Pool days aren't just for fun! 💦

Paws in the Pool reminded us how much dogs love the water and how it can help them heal, too.

Our underwater treadmill therapy is not your average walk. We customize the speed, water level, and duration so each session is tailored to your pet. It's a great option for seniors and pets easing back into activity. 🐾

Underwater treadmill therapy is often part of a structured rehab plan to help improve mobility, build strength and support recovery from injuries. Atlas Pet Vets is proud to be the only animal hospital in the area offering it in-house.
