📣 WORTH THE READ!! 🐾❤️

What if the money you spend on a few extra coffees, snacks at Kwik Trip, or impulse purchases could help an animal get a second chance?

One incredibly generous supporter came up with a creative way to hold herself accountable for her spending while giving back to animals in need. Her goal for 2026 is to match her nonessential spending each month with a donation to a Wisconsin rescue or humane society.

And this month, ACHS was one of the lucky recipients of a $412.75 donation! ❤️

But the best part? The letter she sent with it! We just had to share her idea (anonymously) because we think it's pretty amazing.

Here's her letter:

"Hello there,

In case you are wondering about the odd amount of the donation, it's more selfish than anything really — I wanted to make a goal for 2026 that any vanity spending I did for the month, I had to match in donations to a rescue or humane society in Wisconsin.

So I'm keeping track now of buying clothes that I don't need, and heaven forbid I refrain from collecting more craft sh** like I'm ever going to do anything with it. 😂

I looked at my spending seriously this last year — one month I spent over $900 on Poshmark. That's disgusting.

So in order to keep myself in check, I must match the spending I do on clothing, nails, etc., and give the money to something good. Hopefully you see this as a win-win, but honestly, it started as reining myself in from my own BS.

You are the recipient this month, and each month after the last day, I will pick another rescue that I've seen on Facebook or other mediums.

Thank you for all you do — the world, and animals, would be lost without all of you."

❤️ First of all, THANK YOU! ❤️

We love that she turned a personal goal into something that helps animals. Her generosity will help ACHS continue caring for the animals who depend on us while they wait for their forever homes.

And now, her idea has us thinking...

🐾 THE CHALLENGE: WHAT COULD YOU TURN INTO A DONATION?

☕ Your weekly coffee run?

🍫 Those extra snacks at Kwik Trip?

🛍️ That impulse purchase you really don't need?

💅 A little less spending on yourself for one month?

We're not saying you have to give up the things you love! But what if you chose just ONE little expense to cut back on and donated that money to help animals instead?

Even $5, $10, or $20 can make a difference when it goes toward helping animals in need.

Who's up for turning a small everyday habit into something BIG for animals? ❤️🐾

Drop a ❤️ in the comments if you'd consider taking on the challenge, and please share this post to spread the idea!

Thank you for supporting ACHS and the animals who need us. 🐾

🐾 A Gentle Reminder About Pet Surrenders 🐾

When our staff arrived at work this morning, they found this sweet cat in a carrier by our front door. After reviewing our security footage, we discovered the cat had been left outside around 4:40 p.m. yesterday, meaning the cat spent the entire night waiting for us to arrive. Thankfully, this cat is okay. ❤️

We understand that life can throw unexpected curveballs, and sometimes people find themselves in situations where they can no longer care for their beloved pets. We also understand how frustrating and heartbreaking it can be to contact a facility and hear, “We’re full.”

The truth is, we really are FULL. Our space and resources are limited, and while we wish we could help every animal in need, we simply cannot take in more animals than we have the capacity to care for.

Please, if you need to surrender an animal, do not leave them outside our facility. Animals left in carriers outdoors are vulnerable to extreme temperatures, weather, and other dangers, especially overnight.

Instead, please visit our website and complete our surrender application. Once submitted, you will be added to our waiting list, and we will work with you as space becomes available.

We know these situations are often emotional and difficult, and we appreciate your understanding, patience, and compassion. Our shared goal is to keep every animal safe, even when circumstances are challenging. ❤️🐾

Thank you for helping us help them.

UPDATE:
Rex is Adopted!!!

🐾 Hey there, it’s me, Rex!

I’m the handsome white-and-black guy looking for my forever family! ❤️

My story started out rough. I was rescued after someone saw me get tossed out of a moving car. 💔 Some people wonder how I can still trust humans, but I know there are wonderful people out there, and I’m hoping to find one of them!

I’m a happy boy who loves people and other dogs. One of my favorite playmates is Lilly, the pretty black dog in the photo with me! 🐶 I haven’t met cats yet, so I’m not sure how I’d do with them.

Think I could be your new best friend? Fill out an adoption application! And don’t forget to check out all the other amazing dogs at ACHS looking for loving homes, too. ❤️

Love,
Rex 🐾
