~1/13/21 ****QUEENIE IS HOME!!!!!!****
It is with GREAT relief, excitement, and joy to announce that Queenie, the infamous runaway, is back home safe and sound. It couldn't have been done without community efforts; including reported sightings, awareness, volunteer work, and finally the assistance of professional trappers and one extra large cage!
Thank you to everyone who has helped bring this sweet girl home.
If you would like to contribute in celebration of her return or to help with what has been an exhaustive effort on behalf of APS-FH, you can donate through our website or PayPal here:

!!!Please, please drive carefully as she has been seen on the roads as well!!!

12/29/20 - We'd like to start off by saying thank you so much for the outpouring of community support and concern regarding Queenie. Sightings continue, but she still remains distant and on the run. We would like to make an announcement that moving forward, the shelter will be the main point of contact for any reported sightings, questions, or concerns. Our number is (360)378-2158. We are working on getting her to come regularly to an undisclosed location where we are feeding her every day. This will be an ongoing process in order to get her safely back. We continue to rely on sightings for confirmation that she is still doing ok...advice remains the same: do NOT approach, call, follow, or feed her.

12/25/20 - Another sighting on Hazel/Queenie today. This is promising as she is sticking around the area where we want her to be. We are offering her food in a sheltered spot and a trail camera is set up to see if it’s indeed her that takes the food. Please keep your positive thoughts going. This has been a stressful event for everyone and will most likely be an a process to get her back. Sightings remain important to know that she is alive and well, but the advice remains the same....do NOT approach, call, follow, or feed her. Report any sightings immediately to the numbers posted. Thank you!

12/24/20 - Hazel/Queenie still continues to be sighted in and all around American Camp. We cannot stress this enough...IF YOU SEE HER CALL IMMEDIATELY WITH A LOCATION AND AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE. Do not call for her, run after her, or engage in anyway! We have an action plan, but she is essentially being chased all around right now. In order to help her we will need her to be remaining in the same area. She will not do this if she feels like she is being pursued. We will no longer be posting updates of the areas of the latest sightings.
Please know that we are doing everything we can to get her back home and safely and we appreciate everyone’s efforts to help.

12/22/20 - Hazel/Queenie is still LOST and on the run. The last confirmed sighting was near 4th of July Beach at about 12pm on Tuesday, 12/22/20. She has been seen in various locations throughout American Camp from the Cattle Point Lighthouse to the Visitor’s Center. She is still scared and frightened and is bolting when approached or seen. Hazel is a very skittish dog and is not used to people. She no longer has her harness or leash attached to her. It’s going to be a community effort to help get her back home. The most important thing right now is that we get a location on her whereabouts so the responsible parties and people/animals she knows can spring in to action.
How can you help?
DO:
• Report any sightings immediately
• Inform any neighbors or visitors to the area of her situation and proper ways they can help
• Post up, bring binoculars and wait for sightings in a location somewhere in/near the areas where she has been seen

• Walk the trails with your friendly dog (on leash if in the park)
DON’T:
• Approach, follow, chase, sneak up, or try to FEED her
