APS-FH needs foster homes, now more than ever! 🐾

Rescue doesn’t happen without fosters.

Right now, APS-FH is looking for foster families willing to open their homes and hearts to animals in need. Whether you can help for a few days, a few weeks, or longer, fostering saves lives.

We need foster homes for:
🐶 Adoption-ready dogs
🐱 Adoption-ready cats
🐾 Puppies and kittens
💊 Medical recovery cases
❤️ Fospice animals needing comfort and love
🏡 Animals who simply need a break from shelter life

While our shelter staff works hard to provide excellent care, nothing compares to a home environment. Foster homes help animals decompress, learn routines, build confidence, and show us who they truly are outside of the shelter. The insights we gain from foster families help us make better matches and set animals up for successful adoptions.

For puppies and kittens, foster care provides critical socialization. For medical cases, it offers a quiet place to heal. For senior and fospice animals, it gives them the comfort, dignity, and love every animal deserves.
Every animal’s journey is different, which means there’s a foster opportunity for almost every lifestyle. Whether you have experience with animals or are fostering for the first time, we’ll provide supplies and guidance every step of the way.

One foster home can change everything for an animal waiting for their second chance.

Professional photos make an incredible difference when it comes to helping pets find homes. A great photo can showcase an animal’s personality, catch the eye of a potential adopter, and help create that special connection before they ever step through our doors.

We’re so grateful that Katie generously volunteered their talent and time to help our shelter pets put their best paw forward. Their kindness and support will help more animals get noticed and, ultimately, find the loving families they deserve.

Kit-tea was a blast!😻😻😻 Yummy treats, face painting, arts & crafts and kittens galore!

All of our sweet kittens got adopted and some of our purrfect adult cats found their new home!

Sprocket’s DNA results are IN...and this little guy kept us guessing right to the very end! He’s a true variety pack! 😆 No wonder everyone had such different guesses, Sprocket is truly a one-of-a-kind pup.

A huge thank you to our transport partner .gc for helping Sprocket make his way to APS-FH!

And the best news of all? Sprocket has found his happily ever after! 🏡❤️ He’s off living his best life with a family of his very own.

That’s 15 tails wagging in new backyards, 15 cozy spots claimed on couches, 15 families made a little bigger, and 15 happily-ever-afters beginning right here at APS-FH. 🐶🐱✨

Every adoption is a reminder of why we do what we do. From shy first meetings to instant connections, watching our animals find the people they were meant for never gets old.

This sweet girl turned out to be Akita & German Shepherd, with a dash of Supermutt! Her supermutt categories are Siberian Husky, Chow-Chow, and Russell Terrier.

Demi is the perfect blend of loyal protector and gentle best friend. With her unique mix, she brings together intelligence, devotion, and a calm, loving spirit. She’s the kind of dog who stays close to her people, watches the world with quiet confidence, and melts hearts with her sweet nature and soulful eyes.

Incoming transport alert…and it’s officially a girl party at APS-FH 💅

Please help us welcome two adorable new arrivals coming all the way from South Texas through our wonderful partners at !

💛 Yogurt — female shepherd mix, ~3 years old, ~45 lbs
💛 Penny Lane — female chihuahua mix, ~1 year old, ~12 lbs

These sweet girls are bringing the cuddles, charm, and cuteness in very different sizes…but equally large amounts.

We’re so excited to welcome them to the island and help them find the loving homes they deserve. Stop by the shelter to fill out a quick inquiry form, or complete our online adoption application to express interest in any of them!
