🐾 Miami's recovery just got a whole lot cozier! 🐾

This handsome boy came to us needing emergency surgery for an intestinal obstruction. Our surgical team performed the life-saving procedure, and Miami recovered like a champion! Miami was one of our very first patients to try out our new cat caves, and he absolutely loved his cozy hideaway! πŸ’™

Foreign body obstructions are serious emergencies that require immediate surgical intervention. If your pet is showing signs of distress, vomiting, or lethargy, don't wait β€” seek veterinary care right away.

We're so happy to report that Miami is doing wonderfully! This sweet boy was nothing but loving with our team, and watching him snuggle up in his cat cave brought smiles to everyone who cared for him.

Sending Miami and his family all our love as he continues his recovery! πŸ’œ

🐾 Gandalf's Weekly Wisdom 🐾

Our handsome hospital mascot has an important message for all the pet parents out there! "Why can't I get my medical records right when I leave? Don't you already have them completed?" Great question! Here's the thing: while your pet is receiving care, our team is focused entirely on treatment β€” monitoring vitals, administering medications, performing procedures, and providing the compassionate care your companion needs in that moment.

Medical records require detailed documentation, review, and completion by the attending veterinarian. This process ensures accuracy and includes everything from diagnostics to treatment plans to discharge instructions. We know you're eager to have all the information about your pet's visit, and we promise we're working on it! Our team will have those records ready for you as soon as possible after discharge.

Thank you for your patience and for trusting us with your beloved family member!

πŸ’™ Meet Gracie Mae β€” the sweetest, bravest girl with the most adorable voice! πŸ’™

This precious pup came to us for hospitalization after cholecalciferol toxicity, and our team immediately provided the critical care she needed. But here's what made Gracie Mae extra special: she "talked" to us the entire time she was here! Her little conversations brightened every shift and reminded us why we love what we do. 🐾

**What you should know about cholecalciferol toxicity:**
⚠️ Found in some rodenticides and vitamin D supplements
⚠️ Can cause serious kidney damage
⚠️ Symptoms may include increased thirst, vomiting, and lethargy
⚠️ Immediate veterinary care is essential
⚠️ Early intervention improves outcomes
If you suspect your pet has ingested cholecalciferol, seek emergency veterinary care immediately. Time is critical!

Gracie Mae is a true miracle, and we're so grateful we got to be part of her recovery journey. This chatty girl has stolen all our hearts! πŸ’œ

🐾 Gandalf’s Weekly Wednesday Wisdom 🐾

Even the busiest days deserve a little pause. πŸ’™

Gandalf would like to remind everyone that taking a few minutes to rest, breathe, stretchβ€”or cuddle a catβ€”is never wasted time. Sometimes a small break is exactly what we need to come back refreshed and ready for what’s next.

Take care of yourselves today, friends. Gandalf insists. 🐱✨

At FVSEC , we know that cats experience the veterinary environment differently than many of our other patients. New sights, sounds, smells, people, and handling can all contribute to stress. That’s why creating a calm, secure environment is an important part of the care we provide.

🐾 Our feline-friendly hospital practices include:

🏠 Cat comfort boxes β€” Our new boxes give hospitalized cats a cozy, enclosed space where they can hide, rest, and feel more secure while still allowing our team to monitor and care for them.

🌿 Feline pheromone diffusers β€” Pheromone products are used within our feline areas to help create a more familiar and calming environment.

🐈 A quiet isolation room for our more stressed kitties β€” For cats who need an extra level of peace and quiet, we can provide a separate, quieter space away from the activity, sounds, and smells of the main hospital environment, giving them an opportunity to decompress.

🀍 Gentle restraint with a cat security wrap β€” When appropriate, our team can use a soft security wrap to provide gentle, supportive restraint while minimizing unnecessary handling.

And sometimes, one of the most important things we can give a feline patient is simply a comfortable place to retreat and a little time to settle in.

Reducing fear and stress isn’t just about comfortβ€”it can make veterinary care a more positive experience for our patients and help our team provide the thoughtful, compassionate care they deserve.

While the media lady recovers, I'm running the show β€” and I found this gem of baby me in the archives! Look at that face!

This baby photo of me really captures my essence β€” confident, adorable and clearly destined to run this place.

πŸ‘» Greetings, humans! Gandalf here. πŸ‘»

October has arrived, and I must say, my living quarters have never looked more magnificent! Carissa truly outdid herself with the spooky decorations β€” though I'm still deciding if the cobwebs are real or part of the aesthetic. πŸ•·οΈ

😼 *Ahem* 😼

Your usual social media human has been feeling under the weather, so I've taken it upon myself to deliver this week's message.

After all, who better to dispense wisdom than a distinguished gentleman of my caliber?

Here's what I've learned in my 6 years as FVSEC's hospital mascot:

πŸ’œ The best naps happen in the most inconvenient places- ( a keyboard for example)
πŸ’œ Demanding attention is not rude β€” it's efficient
πŸ’œ Every box is a throne waiting to be claimed...by me
πŸ’œ The humans work very hard and deserve headbutts

Now if you'll excuse me, I have important hospital mascot duties to attend to. (By duties, I mean my afternoon nap in the blanket cabinets.)

The team here does wonderful work saving lives and caring for pets. I supervise, naturally. It's exhausting being this handsome and important, but someone has to do it.

Feel better soon, human. But don't rush β€” I'm quite enjoying this. -Gandalf 😼
