A dog bred to hunt, with enough leg to cover hill and valley, the proper coat for the Nordic climate, and the boldness to bait his quarry.

We’re honored to have the leader of the pack on the cover of this week’s American Dog Fancier! Thank you to photographer Jeffrey Hanlin for this photo from last weekend in Pennslyvania, and to Ginny Kladis Kincer for having Roddy in brilliant condition in the heat of summer!

Earlier this month Roddy earned his most recent Best In Specialty Show victory at the Lone Star Norwegian Elkhound Club specialty in Dallas, adding to his already impressive resume.

Since going on the trail with Ginny in late Spring, Roddy has won multiple groups under judges including Mr. Ken Murray and Mr. Gary Andersen, and earned placements in highly competitive hound groups under judges including Dana Cline, William Daughterty, Eric Liebes, Ann Roth, Lisa Young, Linda Riedel, and Nikki Riggsbee.

Thank you to these judges for appreciating this dog’s strong hunting type and efficient ground-covering movement.
