Have a new puppy???
We have recently opened up a 2nd time slot for this month’s Puppy PreSchool for the overflow of puppies. This helps keep class size smaller for individual attention. We currently have availability now in both our 5:30pm class and our added 7:00pm class starting next Wednesday August 12th. Puppies need at have had their SECOND round in their series of vaccines and not be over 16 weeks of age at the start of class. 🐾 Why We Believe in Crate Training & Solo Downtime 🐾

We’ve been working hard on our expansion and a lot of the space will be used for nap areas, transition kennels & more. So, here’s a little rundown why we believe crate training is SO important if you’re interested in boarding or daycare. 🐾

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that dogs should play all day long at daycare. While play is important, so is learning how to slow down.

Just like toddlers, dogs need breaks. Without them, they can become overstimulated, overtired, and make poor decisions with other dogs. That’s why every dog at Puckett’s Pups gets scheduled solo downtime throughout the day.

Crate training at home makes this so much easier. A crate shouldn’t be viewed as punishment—it’s their own safe space to relax, decompress, and recharge. Dogs that are comfortable in a crate often settle faster, experience less stress, and transition through their daycare day much more successfully.

Solo downtime helps:
🐶 Prevent overstimulation
🐶 Reduce stress and anxiety
🐶 Encourage healthy rest (dogs need a LOT more sleep than we think!)
🐶 Keep playgroups safer and happier
🐶 Teach dogs it’s okay to relax even when the fun is happening around them

Our goal isn’t to keep your dog running for 10 hours straight. Our goal is to send them home happy, mentally fulfilled, and healthy—not completely exhausted.

A well-balanced daycare day includes play, enrichment, one-on-one attention, and rest. Just like people, dogs need all of the above. ❤️

Crate training is one of the best gifts you can give your dog, whether they come to daycare, stay overnight, travel, visit the vet, recover from an injury, or simply need a quiet place to unwind at home.
