Join a Naturalist at Ardenwood during one of its most peaceful hours—sunset.

On Saturday, June 27, we’ll host Evening at the Farm, a free, family-friendly program for ages 7 and up (adult supervision required). We’ll walk at a casual pace and discover how the farm changes as daytime gives way to evening.

Along the way, we’ll pay attention to the plants, animals, and other lives that share this place with us. Dusk is one of the most beautiful times at the farm—and one that few people get to experience.

When: 8:00–9:15 p.m.

Would you like to experience being a farmer for a day?

Join us next Sunday, June 14, for our annual Hay Harvest! Ride a wagon pulled by a tractor into the field, use hay forks to load loose hay, help operate historic farm equipment, build a giant hay pile, and then jump into it. 😊

These photos show park staff practicing with the hay boom and Jackson fork that visitors can help us operate during the event.

You can also press hay into bales, make straw dolls, watch our blacksmith at work, and feed the farm animals.

The event takes place from 10:30 a.m.–3 p.m. and offers a hands-on glimpse of how farm communities brought in the harvest before modern machinery.

RAIL FAIR is Memorial Day weekend, only a month away ~ May 23-25! Along with our new locomotive pulling our trains, we'll have some new attractions and exhibitors, which we'll be announcing up until the event. Our museum staff will also be pulling out some of our more delicate rail artifacts out for display and presentation. Stay tuned for more info!

Starting this Wednesday, and just in time for the busy summer season, cashless fee collection will expand to five additional parks. Visitors are encouraged to come prepared for cashless entry at Ardenwood, Cull Canyon, Don Castro, Castlerock Pool Complex, and Temescal, which will now feature credit card and tap-to-pay methods for a range of park user fees where applicable.**

Starting April 29, the East Bay Regional Park District will expand its transition to a cashless system for on-site fee collection at five additional parks, including a 30-day grace period.

Sheep Shearing Day is less than a week away! On Saturday, April 18th, come and get hands on with wool crafts, listen to live music, and learn all about man's (second) best friend: sheep! Walk-ins are welcome but make sure to grab your ticket online through Friday, April 17 to beat the lines.

Head to Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont for Sheep Shearing Day on Saturday, April 18, from 11am to 3pm. See the farm’s sheep get their annual haircut, try your hand at wool carding, and make your own wooly lamb to take home. Park admission fees apply. Buy tickets online through Friday, April 17.
