What happens after your pet is admitted to the ER? 🐾
Once your pet is admitted, the focus shifts to evaluating their needs and determining the next steps in their care.

Depending on the situation, our team may perform diagnostics, begin treatment, monitor vital signs, manage pain, review test results, and continually reassess how your pet is responding. When additional expertise is needed, our emergency team can also collaborate with Beacon’s Critical Care, Internal Medicine, and Surgery services.

Every ER visit is different, and the care your pet receives is based on what they need at that moment. Throughout the process, our team works to keep you informed about what we’re finding, what we recommend, and what comes next.

When a pet comes through our ER, the first priority is understanding what’s happening and providing the care they need in that moment. But some cases require more specialized care after that initial evaluation.

What Happens at an Emergency Veterinary Hospital? 🏥
When several pets arrive at an emergency hospital at the same time, patients may not be seen in the order they arrived. Why? Veterinary emergency teams use triage.

Triage helps our medical team quickly assess each patient and prioritize pets with the most life-threatening conditions. That can mean a pet who arrives after you is treated first—and if your pet’s condition changes, their priority may change too.

This process helps us provide timely care to the patients who need it most while allowing our team to better serve you and your pet when more complex or critical situations arise.
