Happy 4th of July from all of us at St. Francis Animal Clinic!

We hope you and your furry family members have a safe, fun, and happy holiday weekend!

Please note that our office will be closed on Saturday, July 4th. If your pet experiences an emergency while we are closed, our trusted friends at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, Garden State Veterinary Specialists, and NorthStar VETS will be available to provide emergency care. They will send your pet’s medical records to us so we can continue their care when we reopen.

We will resume our normal business hours on Monday, July 6th.

Please remember to keep pets indoors during fireworks, ensure they have updated ID tags or microchips, and avoid sharing holiday foods that may be unsafe for them.

Heat Stroke in Pets: Know the Signs

As temperatures rise, heat stroke can become a serious and life-threatening emergency for pets.

Signs of Heat Stroke:
-Excessive panting
-Drooling
-Bright red gums
- Weakness or lethargy
-Vomiting or diarrhea
-Difficulty walking
- Collapse or seizures

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heat stroke:
✅ Move them to a cool, shaded area immediately.
✅ Offer small amounts of cool water.
✅ Apply cool (not ice-cold) water to their paws, belly, and body.
✅ Contact your veterinarian right away or seek emergency veterinary care.

Prevention is key: Provide plenty of fresh water and shade.
Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle.
Exercise during cooler morning or evening hours.
Keep pets indoors during extreme heat whenever possible.

We’d also like to officially introduce our newest veterinarian, Dr. Stephen Teitelbaum!

Dr. Teitelbaum joined our team as our second veterinarian a few months ago, but many of you may already recognize him from his time working around the clinic as a veterinary technician.

A little about Dr. Teitelbaum: he graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College and is a dedicated animal lover. He also has a dog named Otis, who can often be found at the clinic each day greeting clients and enjoying plenty of attention!
