One year ago yesterday, (June 6, 2025) was a day we'll never forget. Having animals is never easy. Morning chores we noticed our 3yo bay gelding, Whiskey, acting colicy. We did everything possible we could to help him. Once our wonderful veterinarian, Dr Gallatin, was able to come see him we noticed another 3yo (Wonder) acting the same way. As we all tried everything we could think of, it wasn't colic, it wasn't choke, it was botulism. We never imagined hearing that. Dr G said we need to act fast and get treatment. She sent us to OSU. We arrived and let the veterinarians there do their assessments on Whiskey and Wonder. She confirmed botulism but said Whiskey is very, very bad. She gave him maybe 10% chance to survive. Wonder wasnt as bad so she was very hopeful for her. Fast forward, Wonder came home about 8 days later. Whiskey stayed a little over 2wks there. But he survived. He pulled through, they both did. They had special feed/mash every 4 hours for the next few months. It took lots of hands on deck to keep these two feeling better. We are so thankful for all that helped us, prayed for us and them, fed them, brushed them, helped in so many ways. We had the best support team last summer. We are happy to say that Whiskey and Wonder, who both are now 4 years old, are doing absolutely amazing. We are truly blessed!!! ❤️
