Phillip | 9 yo OTTB Gelding | 16.2hh
Meet Phillip (JC: Caughtmeoncamera), a 9 year old, 16.2 hand off-track Thoroughbred gelding. Phillip raced only three times before everyone agreed his talents were better suited elsewhere. He’s a slow horse, and we mean that as a compliment. What he lacks in speed he makes up for in heart, try, and personality.
Phillip rides both English and western. His previous owner started him on beginning dressage, and he has not been tested over fences. He works best with a calm rider who also brings a go-getter attitude, and once he trusts you, he’ll go just about anywhere. He confidently handles obstacle courses, including suspension and teeter-totter bridges, and walks right through water.
On the ground, Phillip is a goofy cuddle bug who still respects your space. He stands well for the farrier and loves being groomed.
Soundness and care, in full transparency: Phillip needs front shoes at minimum, as his feet get sore easily and benefit from the extra support. He’s currently on Farrier’s Formula. He also needs some additional work and good nutrition to build muscle and put on weight. Teeth were done in September 2026, and he is up to date on vaccines.
Phillip would be a wonderful fit for a family or lesson program that understands the feeding needs of a Thoroughbred. He’ll make a great partner in any discipline that doesn’t require speed.
