Ms. Kathleen always brings us the best treats! Dr. Carroll isn’t much of a cook these days, but she sure can grow a bouquet! Today, they made a pretty good trade: homemade treats for homegrown blooms!

Both parties walked away happy!

Hi! Dr. Carroll here! I’d say pardon the language, but it’s pretty spot on, and listen….if you’ve been around us, you know we aren’t scared of colorful language!

We experience this regularly. Clients call us frustrated because they’ve been told we denied their prescription request, when the reality is that, more often than not, we never even received the initial request from Chewy. Or they “faxed it” but we haven’t EVER had a fax machine!

We completely understand that Chewy often has better pricing. As a privately owned veterinary clinic, there’s simply no way we can compete with a company that size, and we’ve long since accepted that.

But when it starts crossing the line from filling prescriptions into trying to take over patient care or steer clients toward their own telehealth services to generate more revenue, that’s shady AF.

Our recovering medical inpatients have high standards. Fortunately, our hospitalization package includes sprinkler therapy, an all-you-can-eat breakfast grass buffet, and a room with a view.

Our amazing summer work student, Makenna, and her family have lost their home and nearly everything they own in the recent flooding, for the second time in just one year.

Makenna was scheduled to leave for South Africa next week to complete an externship, but she and her family are now facing the unimaginable task of starting over again.

The creeks may rise, but that doesn’t stop our patients from getting the care they need.

Huge thanks to our hero and longtime friend, Tommy, for flying in to make sure our hospitalized animals are treated, fed, and loved until the water is down. We couldn’t do it without our Hill Country village!

We’re big fans of “Turn Around, Don’t Drown,” so unfortunately this morning’s appointments will need to be canceled until the crossing is safe.

On the bright side, this is a pretty exciting day for the fish that have been wondering what was on the other side of the dam.
