Our Methods

Fresh Canine uses a balanced approach to training a dog. During the learning phase, we use positive reinforcement, shaping, and luring- performing several hundred repetitions of each command and exercise. After each dog learns the commands, we transition to phasing out the rewards, making the response to obedience reliable. Once a dog has mastered the commands, we proof and generalize the behavior by working under distractions.

We just finished up our most recent Basic Obedience group class! All the dogs made great progress and our on their way to becoming stellar companions!

With that being said, sign up is open for our next round of group classes.

Puppy Foundations with Charlotte: Mondays @ 6 pm for 5 weeks. Start date September 14th, last class October 19th (no class 10/12).

Teenage Fundamentals with Charlotte: Mondays @ 7 pm for 6 weeks. Start date September 14th, last class October 26th (no class 10/12).

Basic Obedience with Abi: Wednesdays @ 6 pm for 6 weeks. Class begins September 16th and will finish up on October 21st.

Registration is also open on Gingr for Level 2 obedience class that will run from November 4th- December 16th (Wednesdays). Class will be skipped November 23rd for Thanksgiving. This is a great class for Basic Obedience graduates to freshen up their skills in time for the holidays!

🎇 Happy Forth of July, friends! 🎆

Thursday’s training dogs celebrated in 🇺🇸 style. We hope you have a great ☀️ day! It’s a hot one! Be careful in heat with your dogs. Fireworks this evening can be stressful for some dogs. To help your dogs out this holiday, here are some tips.

• Crate your dog(s) if need be, so they have a familiar and cozy safe space to relax.
• Always walk nervous dogs on leash once it’s dusk. Sudden loud bangs can make dogs startled and run away.
• Make sure your dogs are wearing collars & tags.
• Exercise your dogs early so they’re nice and worn out by the time the fireworks begin.
• Play loud music, tv or white noise before the fireworks start. This helps drown out the fireworks noise.

We just finished up our Basic Group class! Everyone made a ton of progress and did so well.

Our next Basic Group class begins Wednesday, July 15th and runs 6 consecutive weeks at 6:00 pm. Registration is open and there is still some spots left!

We also have a Level 2 Obedience class beginning on Monday, July 13th, that meets 6 consecutive weeks at 6:00 pm. This class is appropriate for Basic Obedience graduates looking for help polishing up leash walking, and working through higher level distractions.

Group Class registration is open!

There are still a few spots available in our upcoming group classes. Come learn how set your dog up for success and become a well mannered part of the family.

Tuesdays @ 6pm- Teenage Fundamentals
Wednesdays @ 6 pm- Basic Obedience
Thursdays @ 6 pm- Puppy Foundation

Teenage Fundamentals and Basic Obedience both run for 6 consecutive weeks, with week one being an orientation. Puppy Foundation will be held for 5 consecutive weeks, with no orientation. Details on how to register can all be found on our website under the “Group Classes” tab.

Continuing Education Spotlight:

Charlie is a 3 year old Golden Retriever that has been training with us since 2023! She is a graduate of our Puppy Explorer Day Train, and Board & Train program, as well as Level 2, and Canine Good Citizen group classes. She has been attending Continuing Education regularly since.

Charlie is especially good with puppies, and people. She’s always happy to get pets! Currently she is learning to retrieve a dumbbell to add to her list of tricks.

Learn About Our Programs: Private Lessons

Head Trainers Charlotte and Abigail offer Private lessons both In-Home, or in facility. These are a great option for those needing help with specific training goals, and owners that want to be involved in the training process.

Private Lessons focus on teaching you how to teach your dog the skills they need to be successful, rather than one of our trainers. This is a great place to start if you are interested in our day train or group class programs, but are unsure of which would be best for your dog.

Meet the Trainers!

Hannah Hermosa- Trainer since 2025

Hannah has been with Fresh Canine for over a year now, she trains Day Train students, and teaches lessons.

Hannah grew up in Franklin, and has always been heavily involved in animal welfare. Growing up, her family fostered dozens of dogs, helping them find their forever homes. As an adult, she still actively fosters for Snooty Giggles.

Her interest in training developed while working at the animal shelter, where she particularly enjoyed leading play groups and teaching dogs to socialize appropriately.

At Fresh Canine, Hannah enjoys being able to continue leading play groups, and shaping dogs. Teaching them to think outside the box and problem solve.

We’re so grateful to have Hannah on our team!
