Another exciting start to the day!! These does didn’t cooperate and have them all on the same day like we planned, but everything happens for a reason, and we’ve got another beautiful healthy litter of babies to celebrate this morning! Biscuit is another first time mama, but so far is doing great! Fingers crossed that all the mamas continue to do their best and take care of the littles!! ❤️🐇
PS. This is the other pairing I’ve been most excited about in a while!! So glad they arrived safe and healthy!

Today was a much better day in the rabbitry! We had a litter of Mini Lops born early today that we’ve very much been looking forward to! I’m super excited to see how these turn out! The sire and dam both have quite a few show legs for us and beautiful type, so fingers crossed that their babies grow beautifully!! ❤️🐇

As a breeder, we are always nervous when does are getting close to kindling. First time moms are the ones that make me most nervous. One of our does delivered her kits last night and unfortunately, she lost a few of them due to a rough birthing process. Then this morning when I checked on them, I found that one will probably lose a foot because fur got wrapped around its leg, another will probably lose an ear for the same reason, the mom over-groomed another one’s ear (probably in the anxiety of a rough birthing), and yet another has a torn ear. None of these are genetic issues, so we’ll keep an eye on them and see how they grow and plan to take necessary steps to avoid any of them having long-term issues. Fortunately this litter is being raised primarily for meat, but we were hoping for some nice show buns out of this litter too. Keeping our fingers crossed still. Mama is doing an amazing job of feeding them - fat bellies all around tonight! And she’s been incredibly sweet while she was pregnant and post-birth too. Hopefully the babies will get her sweet personality and her good looks too! 🤞🐇

We’ve been quiet for a while on here, but settling into fall weather and hoping for some nice fall litters! This doe is one of our maiden does and I can’t tell whether she’s got us fooled because we didn’t think she was bred, or if her body is fooling her and she’s having a false pregnancy, but she’s definitely working on building a beautiful nest and prepping for babies! At least her mothering instincts are good - now we just hope for successful healthy litters! 🙏

Abby had fun tonight making a new video of all the bunny crew! We have a few new additions since we introduced our Parkers’ Mini Farm Crew Members of the Day a few months back - I need to catch up on adding those, but in the meantime, here’s a sneak peak at the rabbit portion of the crew! Huge thanks to Hiram’s Hutch Rabbitry for getting us started with American Chinchillas (and for helping us broaden our black NZ lines)! They’ve been such a fun breed to work with!

What a great show weekend! We took 20 rabbits to the show in total (😳) among 3 breeds, since we wanted to take advantage of a show that was only 15 minutes from our house!

We had a couple new families joining us for the show weekend to get some experience and I think/hope they had fun and learned some too!

Most notable parts of the weekend:
⭐️ Ralph got BOB in all 4 Youth Mini Lop shows, special mention by the judges in the first 2 Best in Show competitions, and won Reserve in Show under Judge Daniel Barrett in Youth Show C!

⭐️ Biscuit, Missy, and Teefers all earned a BOSB!

⭐️ Squiggy, Roscoe, Bug, Scrat, Biscuit, Cupid, Missy, and Teefers all earned a BOV or BOSV!

⭐️ Abby’s American Chinchillas each earned BOB or BOSB (they were the only 2 showing in that breed, but they got very nice comments and she had fun with them)!

⭐️ Our rabbits held their own in the Open Specialty classes against some really good breeders!

⭐️ Ben and I both got to be a writer for a judge during one of the shows which is always educational and we got to meet one of the nicest, well-known Mini Lop breeders in the nation and help get his rabbits on the table!

⭐️ Several rabbits that came from our lines placed really well too today! We love seeing that!!

⭐️ 2 of our rabbits are going to great new homes with little girls that will love on them! ❤️

Congratulations to all the winners from the show this weekend! Now we are hoping for some cooler weather to get a few breedings done this week for some fall babies to hopefully be on the show tables early in 2027!

The kids had a pretty good day showing at the Miami County Fair open youth show today!

Ralph (Mini Lop) and Domino (New Zealand) each brought home a BOSB in classes with some strong competition! Abby’s Am Chins brought home a BOB and BOSB but they were the only ones entered. 😂

We got to see family, have some more fair food, and hang out with friends for the day. The only bummer was that Ben wasn’t able to take the royalty tour of the fair because of all the rain today! The fairgrounds have so much mud, we felt bad for them and hope that everyone is able to make it through the rest of the week with less rain so hopefully they can get campers and vehicles out safely at the end of fair! ❤️🍀

We absolutely LOVE when kiddos who get rabbits from us are successful when they show! It’s hard to tell when the rabbits are young when they go to new homes how they will do. We always hope and pray they all do well!

This year so far that I’ve heard from/seen:
⭐️ Union County Fair (Indiana) - Best of Breed Mini Lop
⭐️ Auglaize County Fair - Grand Champion Mini Lop
⭐️ Warren County Fair (our home county fair) - Mini Lops - Best of Breed, Best of Opposite S*x, all 5 Top 5 Senior Bucks, 4 of the Top 5 Senior Does, the top 4 Junior Bucks, and the top 4 Junior Does all from our rabbitry/lines!

If we can continue to put good quality stock in kids’ hands so they do well, hopefully they will stay with rabbits and grow the hobby as they get older, and maybe even pass the love onto future generations!

We’ve been pretty quiet over here on the farm page recently - fair week was 2 weeks ago, then last week was “recovery” week (which gets harder each year I get older), and this week, the kids are off at 4-H Camp so while it’s “quiet” at home, that means we also have their chores to do and they do A LOT of the animal work around here, along with other chores. We are praying the kids have a fantastic, fun week, and that we have a low-key week at home!

We do have a few Mini Lop babies/juniors still looking to hop to new barns if anyone is interested from our fair juniors/litters, and we’ll have a few New Zealand’s also looking in the next couple of months. All are from our show stock - a couple have amazing pet home personalities though. 🙂 Reach out for more info.
