Congratulations to Scout, a former Snooty Giggles Dog Rescue alum! The Williamson County Sheriff's Office is lucky to have you on their team 💕

You are officially looking at the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department’s newest drug detection dog…..who just happens to be Snooty alum!!!!
Scout had his official pinning ceremony!!! He has a lovely family with two littles and another dog….so his life isn’t all that different, his dad just happens to be an SRO stationed at one of our local high schools and Scout will work with him everyday. And Scout loves to work!!!
Scout and his littermates came into our program with their mom when their owner passed. They were actually very well bred field labs and we knew they would needs super specific homes. Well just around two years of age it was clear that Scout needed more than his adoptive family could provide, so he came back into the program. Originally Scout lived here at Camp Snooty because he was the runt and needed to do some catching up. Once he was ready he went to a foster home with Snooty friend and once Project Reward Trainer, Charlotte. When he came back into the program, Charlotte was more than happy to work with him as long as it took….turns out, he just really wanted to work. When Charlotte would travel, he would stay without current Project Reward trainer, Ashley, so that he could keep learning all the things. He had quite the tag team of foster moms. It was through Ashley’s connections with the sheriff’s department that Scout was able to be evaluated for their training program. Many were selected but few made it all the way through. Scout prevailed and is incredibly happy with this new life that includes both a loving family/handler….and all the work he’s willing to put in!!!
Congratulations Scout!!! We are so proud of you!!!!

It may be the close of Shark Week, but Ruby is stocking up on her favorite aquatic friends! The Fluff & Tuff Dog Toys elf has stocked our boutique with all the newest critters, including Trax Moose, Fitz Fish, Lucky Lobster, Chandler Chicken, Troy Beaver and Sterling Fox. With double stitched hidden seams and a tuff web mesh liner, these machine washable toys are durable and perfect for casual snuggles or extended play. A Fluff is a friend for life! ❤️

With temperatures reaching into the mid-90’s this week, it’s important to take a few precautions to avoid the risk of heat stroke in our pets, especially our adorable smoosh-face and senior babies. Little Eevee is helping us share these tips for safe summer fun!

🥾 When temps get high, don’t walk your pet on asphalt during the day. Reserve those walks for early morning or evening so their paw pads don’t burn! To find out if the ground is too hot for your pet, place your hand on the pavement for 10 seconds. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paw. When the air temp is 86 degrees, the asphalt temp registers as 135!

💦 Pets get dehydrated quickly, so provide plenty of fresh, clean water, and ensure they have a shady spot to get out of the sun and cool down. Careful not to over-exercise or leave your pet outside for extended periods of time when it’s extremely hot.

☀️ Know the symptoms of overheating: Excessive panting, difficulty breathing, increased heart rate and respiratory rate, drooling, mild weakness, stumbling or collapse. Symptoms can also include seizures, bloody diarrhea and vomit with an elevated body temp of over 104 degrees.

🚘 Do not leave your pet alone in a parked car. This can lead to fatal heat stroke, as temps inside a car can rise 20 degrees within 10 minutes. Cracking a window makes no difference, so please keep your animals home when running those errands!

🐶 Flat-faced animals are prone to heat stroke because their short noses, elongated soft palates, and small nasal openings make it harder for them to breathe and regulate body temperature. Elderly, overweight, and those with heart or lung disease should also be kept in air-conditioned areas to reduce the chance for overheating.

If your pet is experiencing symptoms of heat stroke - safe, controlled reduction of body temperature is a priority. Cool (not cold) water can be poured over the head, stomach, armpits and feet. Keep a continuous flow of air across your pet to help increase evaporative heat loss until you can get to your nearest veterinary hospital or emergency care for further treatment. Let’s work together to keep our pets safe and cool this summer!

Join us in celebrating a milestone 6 year Animalia anniversary with our girl, Paige! This beautiful ray of Southern charm and sunshine has been a big part of the Animalia team since 2020. Paige grew up with a dream of working in veterinary medicine since she was a little girl, as Golden Retrievers and helping animals are her two passions in life! She went on to attend Columbia State and received her Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology. She runs our in-house lab with her best friend and Resident Happiness Coordinator, Milo, and can often be found in the kitchen baking when not busy at work!

Beginning this month, we’re spotlighting all of our hardworking teammates and their Animalia anniversaries, so please join us in celebrating Rhiannon and Sydni on their 1st year with us! Our CSRs work around the clock to keep us running smoothly and provide the very best client and patient experience, and we greatly appreciate you.

Give a great big happy 3 year anniversary cheer to Dr. Haley Fitzsimmons! We’re thrilled to have her back after welcoming her adorable baby girl, Freya, into the world and the Animalia family. Thank you for all you do for our crew and our patients!

Hurricane is helping us prepare for the upcoming holiday with a few important tips and reminders! As pet parents, we understand the fear and anxiety associated with July 4th and the impact fireworks have on our furry friends. Sudden booms, pops, bangs and buzzes can be confusing and startling, resulting in a protective fight or flight response. Although we sadly cannot explain the difference between a celebration and a threat to our pets, there are a few steps we can take to make a considerable difference in their experience this holiday!

We encourage everyone to have a plan in place and practice before the fireworks begin. Positive crate training is ideal, but if your pet is not familiar with a crate, creating a safe space in the home is the next best option. Below are a few tips on setting up a safe zone:

🏠 𝘾𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙖 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢: Establish a comfy place in your home where your pets can be safely enclosed. This could be a basement, bathroom, bedroom or large closet that minimizes exposure to loud noises and flashes of light associated with fireworks and storms.

🛋️ 𝙃𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙨 & 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙉𝙤𝙞𝙨𝙚: Choose a space with additional hiding spots, under and behind furniture, or inside a familiar and draped open crate. Consider using a white noise machine, calming music, or television to buffer the sound.

🐈 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚: Locking pets in a room for the first time can increase anxiety, so it’s best to practice using the space to reduce stress and familiarize your pet with the routine. Staying with your pet is ideal, but if you have plans to go out while fireworks are in full swing, please practice your safe space protocol to ensure a stress-free night for your furry friend!

If your pet has storm anxiety and noise phobias, we strongly encourage you speak with your trusted veterinarian well before the festivities begin, as many prescription medications require a physical exam and recent bloodwork to ensure safety. Let’s work together to create a safe and stress free July 4th for our pets and family!
