A little rain didn’t slow down Dr. Carly Hubbard at the Ragnar Road Bourbon Chase this weekend! Running from the Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont and winding through the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and Bluegrass region country roads, the 206 mile race over rolling hills ended in Lexington with a celebratory festival of music, dancing and bourbon samplings!

There was not a dry eye in the house this week as we shared big hugs and well wishes with our beautiful friend and inspiring colleague, Dr. Emily Leahey. Thank you for every ounce of gentle care and love you’ve given each patient along the way and throughout your time with our Animalia family! ❤️

“After celebrating five wonderful years of being surrounded by the best veterinary team, loving patients and kind families, I’ve decided to move forward with an opportunity of growth, development and service. Through my time working in urgent care with Animalia and Veterinary Emergency Group, I’ve discovered a passion and love for providing intensive, critical care to sick pets in need. I will be stepping away from my role at Animalia and heading to Tucson, Arizona to take part in an exciting fellowship, building on my skills as an emergency veterinarian in the areas of surgery, endoscopy, and ultrasound for a number of species.

While I’m excited to grow as a veterinarian, it is heartbreaking to leave this beautiful practice and the people and pets I have come to love like family. I’m grateful for all of the support I’ve been granted over the years, whether I was here in Tennessee or caring for wildlife and teaching students in far off places! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to love and care for your family as if they were my own.

I’d specifically like to thank our brilliant medical director, Dr. Blake Malone and our fantastic practice manager, Michele Cynova, who have looked out for me, mentored me, and found ways for me to grow at Animalia time and time again. I will deeply miss them, our incredible team of doctors, nurses, and everyone who makes this practice so very special. Our friends at Snooty Giggles Dog Rescue would love to add you to their amazing foster family! Temporary or longterm fostering is an opportunity to give back in a big way while helping rescues support more dogs in need of medical care. It’s a beautiful way to be a small part of their journey to finding the forever family they’ve been waiting for!

We could really stand to rally for some foster homes to join our team. We have so many great dogs in area shelters in need of just a little medical assistance to make them adoptable and our foster homes are spread thin with so many aging out, moving, having babies, etc. it just happens and it’s hard to rebuild your foster program when it does. Our requirements are that your current dogs are all altered, up to date on vaccines and friendly with other dogs. You must be able to take them to their vet appts at our clinic, Animalia Health & Wellness in Franklin and have a good amount of patience as they adjust. There are dogs of all types in need in area shelters and we do not take dogs in unless we have a committed foster home. We do not board and we do not have a kennel facility. It is very important to us that all dogs are in a loving home while waiting for adoption and equally important that our limited funds go to vet bills and high quality food.
