We were so sad to hear about the passing of our good pal Zeke last week. After a valiant battle with cancer, he let his family know it was time to say goodbye.

Zeke had been a member of our pack for years. While he was slightly particular about his canine companions, he always greeted his human pals with a smile (and a random gift of something from the house 😂). He coached his niece Millie on the rules of the trail when she joined us.

We’re going to miss this big boy immensely. But we hear that over the bridge every day is the perfect weather for swimming or rolling in the snow or both!! Rest easy Zekey-dekey. ❤️🐾🌈

Our long time pal Sophie passed recently after a long and wonderful life. I know I have pictures of her as a puppy somewhere but without a deep dive into my external storage, I couldn’t find them. But that’s how long she’s been with us.

Sophie was shy and snuggly and so so sweet. She was one of those dogs that you could always count on to just enjoy the hike and take it all in without causing problems or shenanigans. She stopped coming on hikes a few years ago when her achey legs got the better of her. But we still got to see her for barks and pets every week when we picked up her brother, Oscar.

It’s been sad this last week seeing her empty crate next to his but we know she lived the fullest and most loved life right up until the end. We never get enough time with our four legged family. Our thoughts are with her family and Oscar as they navigate this loss.

Rest easy Soph. We love you. ❤️🐾🌈

Some of us are finding it a little harder to drum up the enthusiasm for celebrating this year. Maybe it’s the heat. Maybe it’s something else.

When we do get around to celebrating, it’ll be in a “we love this country and the promise of who she can be” way.

“Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the President or any other public official save exactly to degree in which he himself stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him in so far as he efficiently serves the country.” ~Theodore Roosevelt
