🎂 what a great way for Paige to celebrate her birthday!

▫️ 8th place in the National Derby out of a field of 41 horses!

Our small crew had a quick and easy day at Moss Show Stables to pick up some more medal points!

🛎️ Charlotte Lyon & Cahill K won their MHC Medal and were 2nd in the NEHC

🛎️ Cora Cotman & Nemolino won their MHC Medal and NEHC Medal sealing their ticket to both finals!

🛎️ Paige Violin & Bavaro won their MHJ Medal and collected some good MHC points

Congratulations to our riders on their 2025 USHJA HOTY Awards!

🍎 Zoe Cole & Jento VL - Reserve Champion Large Junior Hunters 3’3”, ages 16-17

🍎 Eva Golden & Amor de Tortuga - Reserve Champion, Large Children’s Hunter Pony

🍎 Natalie Kiss & Van Kiki - 3rd place, Children’s Hunter Horse 15-17

💚 Kate LaVerde & Hytime were also NEHC Reserve Champion in the A/O Hunters 3’3” 35+

WEC week VIII recap…

☀️ Paige Violin & Bavaro
▪️Children’s Hunter 12-14: 8th & 1st o/f with a score of 85! This duo also took 5th in the Children’s Hunter Classic out of 17 horses.
▪️Child Eq 3’: 6th & 2nd o/f, 6th on the flat
**Thanks to Abby for handing the reins over to Paige for the WEC experience. Luckily, we found Paige’s new partner and Abby gets her horse back! 🫎

☀️ Lila White & CMS Calimero
▪️Children’s Hunter 12-14: 6th & 5th (with a score of 82!) over fences. This was Lila’s first time moving up to 3’… there were definitely a few tears of pride shed from her fellow Shady Grove riders 🥹

☀️Bridget Tivnan & CMS Calimero
▪️Mom took over the reins from Lila for a fun filled day in the USHJA 2’. The duo took home an 8th place ribbon out of 28 riders (including pros!) with their best jumping round to date. The smile on Bridget’s face says it all 😊

☀️ Cora Cotman-Jenkins & Nemolino
▪️ This duo had solid rounds in the Adult Amateur hunters and a great trip in the Jr/Am National Derby!

▪️Middle Adult Hunters: 4th, 4th, 5th, 7th o/f and 4th u/s. They were also 11th in the Classic!

**Kate’s newest addition, Monticello, took 2nd & 3rd in his USHJA 3’ classes (out of 40+ horses) with Frank Perla in the irons. He also stepped into his first National Derby and marched around like a pro. This special horse is proudly offered for sale with Brooke Farr 🤩

Thank you again, Julia McRoberts, for your wonderful and diligent care for our horses at the show. We also had the best little helper, Auggie, who made sure to keep our aisle in tip top shape all week! Lastly, a huge thank you to Andre for holding down the fort back at home in the frozen tundra of Massachusetts!

Our first week in FL went from 🥶 ➡️ 🥵

The horses *loved* napping in their huge stalls at WEC while acclimating to not wearing blankets and enjoying warm bubble baths 🛁

🌴 Paige Violin & Bavaro
▫️Low Children’s Hunter: 7th & 8th o/f (out of 28 horses)
▫️12-14 Eq: 4th o/f & 4th in the flat (out of 19 riders)
▫️$3500 WEC 2’6” Child Derby: 8th place
▫️$1250 Low Child Hunter Classic: 12th place

🌴 Lila White & CMS Calimero
▫️ Low Children’s Hunter: 7th & 4th o/f (out of 28 horses)
▫️ $3500 WEC 2’6” Child Derby: 12th place
▫️ $1250 Low Child Hunter Classic: 5th place (score of 81!)

🌴 Cora Cotman-Jenkins & Nemolino
▫️scores of 79 & 76 in their Adult Hunter 18-35 debut. We are so proud of this pair’s ability to step back up into the ring together after Cora has been away at school and Nemo has been wintering with his second mom, Susan at home. They were just out of the ribbons!

🌴 Courtney Cole & Incredible M
▫️Middle Adult Hunters: 5th place o/f
This was, by far, one of the most competitive Middle Adult sections we have seen in a long time! Courtney and Harold dusted off the cobwebs and put in some great rounds!

▫️Low Adult Hunter: 4th (out of 21)
▫️Low Adult Eq: 8th (out of 30)
▫️$3500 WEC 2’6” Adult Derby: 11th place
It was so fun watching Courtney take over the reins on her daughter, Zoe’s, horse for the week. This was her first time ever showing Jento and we think she did a pretty great job tuning him up for Zoe’s turn the following week!

This pair had some solid rounds in a super competitive 3’3” A/O division, scoring a 76 in both their classic AND in the $15,000 USHJA National Jr/Am Derby. Kate also got to *finally* meet her newest acquisition, Monticello, who has been under the careful training and care of our friends, Frank Perla & Brooke Farr 💙

Of course, thank you JR Hudson for transporting our horses safely to the show, Kim Clookey & team for their beautiful braids, and Julia McRoberts for her top notch grooming & care of the horses.

We have had a very busy month of February! The horses (and *most* of the riders) have returned from 3 wonderful weeks at WEC Ocala back to the frozen tundra of Massachusetts. Before we recap Weeks VII & VIII, we would like to kick things off with a big congratulations on two new partnerships…

Paige Violin & Braam, a beautiful 9yr old KWPN gelding who will help Paige step up into the bigger divisions! 🐴 Thank you Scarlett Butterfield and her entire family for handing over the reins on this special horse to Paige!

Ainsley Schofield & Tic Tac de la Pomme Z, from our friends at Cocomeau Equestrian. This search was a tough one, and we are so happy these two ended up together! Thank you, Brenna Doherty for helping facilitate this match!

Neither of these matches would have been possible without the diligence (& flexibility!) of Dr. Heather Beach, who helped move mountains to get everything done for these new pairs. Thank you, Heather!
