Notice how easily this young TWH mare switches leads in the rear? It is critical to keep an eye on even the free lunging horse while developing them toward the canter. NEVER allow a horse to cross canter (different lead in front than in back). Always change direction and preferably toward the rail during round penning to launch them off into the correct lead in the rear. It also builds muscle and the correct muscle memory in the process!
