As Halloween approaches, we want to ensure that your furry family members stay safe during the festivities. While it’s a fun time for humans, there are some precautions we recommend to protect your pets.

Here are some tips for a safe Halloween:

Candy safety: Keep all candy, especially chocolate, out of reach. Many candies can be toxic to your pets - especially ones that are sugar free!

Costume cautions: If you dress up your pets, ensure that costumes are comfortable and don’t restrict breathing.

Beware of decorations: Keep an eye on decorations that may be tempting for pets to chew or swallow, such as small items or wires.

Doorbell anxiety: The frequent doorbell ringing can be stressful for pets. Consider keeping them in a quiet area to reduce anxiety. If your pet does not like unexpected noises or visitors, please make an appointment with your doctor to get any medications early.

Keep pets indoors: Halloween night can bring unexpected visitors and noises, so it’s best to keep your pets indoors to avoid escape.

Get refills early. If your pet needs any medications during this month, please give our office a call to get your refills before festivities begin! New to medications? We can help too! Simply call our office to request a consultation with one of our doctors.

We also recommend microchipping your pets to ensure they will make it back to you safely. Being prepared for this spooky-season is easy here at Brook-Ellis Pet Hospital! Please schedule your appointments with us early so we can best assist you and your pets.

If you have any questions or concerns about your pet’s safety this Halloween, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you and your pets a fun and safe Halloween!
