Since we gave the cats their own update, it’s only fair that The Hounds of Eowyn get one too! 😂🐾

These two are somehow already about to turn ONE! 🥹 They’ve still got a couple months to go, but it’s crazy how fast they’ve grown.

🐶 Buck — my goofy boy, who is ½ Standard Australian Shepherd, ¼ Australian Cattle Dog, and ¼ Great Pyrenees. A whole lot of dog packed into one lovable package. 😂

🐶 Loki — Zach’s “Toy Aussie” who I’m still convinced has some Australian Cattle Dog mixed in there somewhere. 😂

Two farm dogs, two very different personalities, and twice the chaos. ❤️🐾

The Hounds of Eowyn are growing up way too fast! 🥹💕

🐔⚔️ An Update from the Hens of Rohan ⚔️🐔

Remember those little chicks we brought home in the spring? Well, the Hens of Rohan have officially outgrown their baby stage! 😂🩵

They’ve gotten SO big and are getting dangerously close to laying their very first eggs. 🥚🥹 We’re officially in the “any day now” waiting period, and I am entirely too excited about it.

And of course, the two I’m holding are my favorite girls — Stevie Nicks (Silver Springs) 🤍 & Ethel Darling “The Bearded Lady” 🤎

It’s been so much fun watching these little ladies grow from tiny fluffballs into proper members of the homestead.

Now we wait…

🌱 A little garden update from Eowyn Farm 🌱

This may not look like much to some people, but I’m really damn proud of it. ❤️

This is a lot of what our garden has given us so far this year, along with what we’ve managed to put back for later. Everything in the top half of the freezer is either from our garden or what’s left from the hog we had butchered and split with our landlords. 🥕🌽🫑🥩

Did we have a big garden this year? Absolutely not. 😂 This garden has had to survive a LOT this year, and honestly, I’m just grateful it tried as hard as it did.

But that’s what homesteading is about for me. It’s not always picture-perfect harvests overflowing from baskets. Sometimes it’s saving what you can, preserving what you grow, filling the freezer little by little, and being thankful for every bit of food you managed to produce yourself.

Peep the cutest little helper helping with the pinto beans. 🥹🫘❤️

It may not be much, but it’s ours. 🌱❤️
Next year, we try again.

A little update on Heat Lightning as he continues his transition from racehorse to riding horse. 🏇➡️🤠

This is his most recent ride, and I couldn’t be happier with the direction he’s going.

Heat Lightning is not a finished horse, and I’m not advertising him as one. He is still learning what all these new cues, expectations, and movements mean outside of the track. But he is willing, athletic, smart, and genuinely wants to figure it out.

Under saddle, he has been:
• Willing and easy to encourage
• Responsive to new cues as he learns them
• Athletic with plenty of speed when asked
• More curious than spooky
• Comfortable with different riders
• Sometimes a little lazy 😂
• Quick to settle in and try again when he doesn’t understand

He’s already been ridden by multiple teenagers, including a very new beginner, but he still needs a rider with appropriate support and continued training. An experienced beginner with a good trainer available to help finish him would be a great fit.

✨ Meet Crystal! ✨ — Up for Adoption! 🤍

Crystal is an adorable little grade pony — and she’s looking for her forever home! 🥰

Crystal came to us from Arabian Rescue Mission, Inc. as our very first foster. We’ve been working toward being able to foster for ARM for a while now, and we’re so excited that Crystal is the first of what we hope will be many horses we get to help!

When she first arrived, I figured she was probably a Quarter Pony type. But after watching her move around the arena, I’m convinced there’s some Hackney in this girl! She floats at the trot, gliding effortlessly across the dirt. But she can easily kick it in 3rd gear when asked too. 🤣💨

Under saddle, she’s soft in the mouth, responsive to her cues, willing, and absolutely lovely for her rider. She definitely has a motor, though, and I can’t wait to see how many of our kiddos who are ready for a little more “go” than “woah” fall in love with her!

While Crystal waits for her forever human she’ll be part of our riding lesson program - staying tuned up and in shape.

🌻 Meet Tenakee! 🌻

Tenakee is a 9-year-old OTTB and a very special part of the Eowyn Team — although she isn’t an Eowyn-owned horse or one of our lesson horses. She’s Jaden’s horse, and she’s currently boarding with us while we work together to restart her and help her become the riding partner Jaden dreams of.🤍

Tenakee spent the last three years turned out to pasture before finding Jaden… and it was love at first sight for both of them! This has been in the making since early spring, and I honestly can’t put into words how happy it makes me to be a part of their journey.

She may not have started Tenakee completely from the ground up, but 90% of the physical work that has gone into this mare’s retraining has been done by this incredible young lady, with guidance along the way of course. 🥰

I couldn’t be prouder of these two. 🥹❤️

I can’t wait to watch Jaden and Tenakee grow together, learn together, and become the team they’re meant to be. And knowing Jaden, I’m sure she won’t mind sharing her girl with us every now and then in a lesson once Tenakee is ready. 😉
