Moon was adopted in March, and his family recently sent us an update that made us smile. Heโ€™s now Milo, and according to them, he is โ€œthe absolute sweetest boy.โ€

He demands attention, loves his pets and has LOTS to say. Heโ€™s also become his humanโ€™s dedicated bath buddy, sitting beside the tub, investigating the water and trying to drink straight from the spout.

Itโ€™s safe to say ๐Œ๐ข๐ฅ๐จ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž, and they found one very sweet, very chatty little best friend.

Sometimes, the hardest part of loving them is knowing we donโ€™t get to keep them forever. But Baxterโ€™s story reminds us why we choose to love them anyway. ๐ŸคŽ๐Ÿพ

๐…๐ข๐Ÿ๐ญ๐ž๐ž๐ง ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐ ๐จ, ๐๐š๐ฑ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก ๐‡๐’๐๐“. What followed was so much more than an adoption.

He grew up alongside his people. He was there for their wedding, anniversaries, celebrations and some of lifeโ€™s hardest moments. For 15 years, he was a constant presence through all the changes life brought their way.

As his family shared with us, โ€œ๐‡๐ž ๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ๐งโ€™๐ญ ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ . ๐‡๐ž ๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฒ.โ€

On June 30, Baxterโ€™s family said goodbye to their best friend after 15 wonderful years together. And while saying goodbye is never easy, what came before it was a lifetime of love.

Thatโ€™s the beautiful thing about adoption. You may walk into a shelter thinking youโ€™re giving an pet a home, without realizing just how much they will become part of your story.
