❤️🐾 Heartworm disease is preventable—treatment is much harder.

At South Hills Animal Hospital, we want every pet owner to understand just how important year-round heartworm prevention is. Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes, and it only takes one infected mosquito bite to put an unprotected pet at risk.

Waiting until symptoms appear can be dangerous. Heartworm disease can cause serious, sometimes permanent damage to the heart, lungs, and blood vessels. The good news? Prevention is much easier, safer, and less expensive than treating heartworm disease.
