If brushing your pet's teeth sounds like a wrestling match no one wants, you are not alone, and it's still the most effective home dental care step. Our latest post walks through realistic technique, helpful tools, and the wipes and gels that work as backup options.

Does the idea of brushing your pet's teeth sound like a wrestling match neither you nor your pet wants any part of? Toothbrushing routines can be hard, but it is the most effective home care step for slowing dental disease in dogs and cats, and it matters more than most owners realize. Plaque begins...

This is Drax at one of his very first visits with us—almost 9 years ago!

It’s always such a special thing to look back and see how much our patients have grown and how long we’ve had the honor of being part of their lives. From tiny puppy visits to full-grown companions, these moments are what make what we do so meaningful.

Thank you to Drax’s family for letting us be part of his journey all these years and thank you for trusting Woodland Springs Veterinary Hospital with his care. We love watching our patients grow up right alongside us

Why does kittens like Zuko need multiple doses of deworming?
Kittens and puppies often receive multiple rounds of deworming because parasites are very common in young pets, and one treatment usually doesn’t eliminate every stage of the parasite life cycle.
Dewormers work by targeting parasites that are present at the time of treatment, but immature parasites or newly hatched eggs may still develop afterward. Repeating doses helps make sure those later stages are addressed as your puppy or kitten grows.
Many puppies or kittens can pick up parasites from their mother, nursing, littermates, or the environment, which is why routine deworming is a standard part of early care. ❤️🐾

Every wagging tail, happy purr, and healthy pet is why we do what we do.

That’s why we’re proud to announce that we’ve successfully passed our AAHA inspection!

AAHA accreditation isn’t a one-time achievement, it’s an ongoing commitment to providing quality veterinary medicine, patient safety, and exceptional client service. Less than 15% of veterinary hospitals in the United States and Canada are AAHA accredited, and we’re honored to uphold those standards every day.
We’re grateful for our incredible team and the trust our clients place in us each day.
Here’s to continuing to provide the best care possible for the pets we love!

June is National Microchipping Month 🐾

Collars and tags can fall off — but a microchip can help pets find their way back home when the unexpected happens.
Every year, lost pets are reunited with their families because of a microchip.

A microchip is a simple step that can make a huge difference, and we offer microchipping right here at Woodland Springs Veterinary Hospital 💙

You wash your dishes… your pet’s bowls need it too

Food bowls should be cleaned regularly, and water bowls should ideally be washed daily to help prevent bacteria, slime buildup, and funky smells.
Germs can build up faster than most pet owners realize

A clean bowl may seem like a small thing, but it plays an important role in keeping pets healthy and feeling their best 💙

Hot spots are areas of inflamed, irritated skin that develop when a pet excessively licks, scratches, chews, or rubs at one spot.
We tend to see more hot spots this time of year from swimming, allergies, humidity, and pets licking at irritated areas. They can appear suddenly and become painful very quickly — especially under thick fur where owners may not notice them right away.

Early treatment can help prevent a small irritation from becoming a much bigger problem. Schedule an appointment today. 💙

Watching a puppy grow into a senior over 12 or 14 years means witnessing the full arc of veterinary care: the first round of vaccines, the spay conversation, the first bloodwork change worth monitoring, the transition into senior screenings. Each stage has its own clinical priorities. Our newest guide from Woodland Springs Veterinary Hospital walks through what changes when and why it matters.

Pets in Fort Worth tend to be active members of the household. Trinity Trails on weekends, dog parks midweek, road trips down to the coast, summers spent figuring out how to keep everyone cool when the heat hits triple digits.
